So a buddy of mine is running a passive tank on his Hurricane for mission running. Once he's completed the mission he come back to station, refits with armor and hull repairs and undocks to run them. But when he runs the armor repairs he's not getting repaired. They cycle and use cap like their working but nothing happens to his armor.
Our only theory was that the armor repairs are applying the amount of hit points to the ship that are missing from his hull and once it applies that much then it kicks into his armor. Doesn't make any sense but it's the only thing we can think of.
If his hull is repaired first then his armor repairers work fine. anyone else experience this? ________________________________________________ May the Force be with you. |

Ya, its kinda odd. if ur friend had a plate fitted and took more damage than his natural armour could take, i would reccomend refitting that plate and running the rep. I guess CCP Reasoned that nanites can't rep with nothing there if your friend didn't have a plate, then me = , use a station service...
but the point with the hull rep, dunno, didn't hit hull on the one time that happened to me :P

You just have to keep on repping , once you rep the 4k or so armor that the plate gave you you'll start seeing actual armor hp going up. Right now you're in the negative since you had plates and you took em away. Give it a few mins.
BTW a passive tank on a cane should be maybe shield tank? If you never go into armor you might never need to repair

Agreed, also what your friend is actually doing is buffer tanking, not passive tanking as there is no such thing as passive armor tanking.

Armor reps don't repair hull damage, and vice versa. Tell your friend to stop armor buffer tanking missions, fit a rep and marvel at your increased agility and the ability to self repair while in a mission. Or do as suggested and fit an LSE and mission appropriate hardners for a shield tank and don't take armor damage.
Thinking about the time wasted hull repping after a mission just makes my head hurt

Random thought... but what is the SIZE of the armor rep your friend is using? If he/she is using a small armor rep then that's why the armor seems like it isn't being repaired. _______________________

Ask him to try swapping out all low mods except for armour plates, and put in armor repairers? should see a difference then

From the sounds of it, he is either using a Small repper for a BC, which will take forever...
Or when he refits, he's dropping the plates to fit the repper. In which case, your max armor is dropping significantly, while the damage taken still applies. So instead of 2000 damage taken / 2500 max armor... you're trying to repair 2000 damage / 1000 max armor. So all those "extra" cycles are just getting you out of the negative values. - Explosions!

If my little crytal ball isn't wrong, you are running a Domi. Just put some RR in your highslots, and repair him on the go.

Check your actual armour amount, if you go into low, or no armour amount then take off plates you can go into negative armour, which needs to be repaired before you can go back into positive armour.
It's to stop people offlining and onlining plates in combat to generate infinite armour.

If that's true CCP must have changed the mechanics, in the past you could not undock with negative armour and would get told something along the lines of "your ship is not space worthy".
Quite a few people got stranded in stations that lacked a repair station in the past.

Confirming its negative armour. Once during overloading I gave a plate 100% damage, my amour vanished and my rep appeared to not work. However after a bit my armour started to rep up.
