Hello,
I've a question about shooting rights in high sec: If someone legally attacks a fleet member of me, am I allowed to kill this guy?
Thanks and greets, Jay

If you're friend steals from a can and gets shot at you can't fight off the attacker.

Above answers do not always apply if that friend is in your corp as well as your fleet.

So it's allowed to attack someone attacking a corp member? Or only if the attacked pilot is in my fleet AND my corp? And are you sure about that? I'm asking the initial question because I was exactly in this situation. I formed a fleet with a corp mate, he opened someones cargo and was attacked by the owner. Accordingly my buddy was able to shoot back, but the attacker wasn't flagged red for me. So I hasn't the permission to shoot at him, too. Right?

Nothing changes if you're in a fleet.

Edit- Also, with can flipping mechanics: If your friend takes from someones cargo, he will be flagged to the owner and his corporation given it's not an NPC corp. If they shoot your friend, his aggro timer is extended to maximum, however his corp doesn't gain aggro back IIRC.
If you're wanting to get aggro on the geezer, carry some rep drones or stick a module on, rep your friend and you'll flashy up to the target. If he shoots you, you gets aggro.
Being in a fleet doesn't make a difference to aggro.

Well obviously for war decs. And the can flipping rule still applies even if they're in corp with you. If you're friend stole and gets shot you dont get to shoot the person killing him.

Hm... I'm a little bit confused. Your explanation are except that what I expected. But just a few seconds ago I shoot at a ninja stolen something from a wrack owned by me. He warped out, a friend warped in and kill me. Why was it allowed to him? Or did I missed something?

Are you sure it was a different pilot? Many ninja keep ships handy for switching once they get aggro. I'm guessing this is what happened.

Yeah this seems to be the explanation. There's no way his corpy could've got aggro unless he flipped the can and you took your ore back.
