I am looking at some high end T2 BPC's I want to invent. I realize that for low end T2 stuff, max T1 BPC's are the way to go (T2 mods, ammo, etc).
But what about ships and other high end T2 mods. I am looking at one item where I plan on using the +3ME/zero additional run decryptor, and want only a single run T2 BPC as a result.
So for such an high end T2 module/ship invention job, how many runs must be on the T1 BPC?
I guess the same question applies if I want to create a 2 T2 BPC using the +ME2/+1 run decryptor.

uh ...
wait for it....
one.
decrypters that add runs are only (to my understanding) useful if using max-run BPC. =========================

Velicitia:
So you are saying if I use a +3ME/plus zero run decryptor, the T1 BPC only needs a single run on it, bit I want to use a +2ME/plus 1 run decryptor, I need a max run T1 BPC?

if your going to use any decrypter that adds runs then you'll need max run copies to get the most out of them

dont people generally use 1-run bpc's for inventing ships because of the time to copy a full run?
and by not having a full run bpc to invent from you only lose out on 1 extra run in the t2 bpc right?

If you get a result (chance-based), you always get at least one run, regardless of stats of "ingredients". So, yeah, if you use 1 run T1 BPC and no decryptor (or the no bonus runs decryptor), you always get 1 run, regardless of what you invent.
If you use a 1-run T1 BPC and the +1 runs decryptor, for almost everything, you get a 1-run T2 BPC, except for jump freighters, where you get 2 runs, because 1 run is the max for the T1 BPC.
With ships and rigs, using a max-run adds 1 run to the decryptor bonus (if any). With modules, ammo and drones, using a max-run you get 10 runs with no decryptor, plus whatever the decryptor bonus gives you. _

Generally when doing invention, for ships I only use 1 run T1 BPCs because that is all you will get out of it anyway (unless you use decryptors)and for modules/ammo/drones/things of that nature, I use max run T1 copies. R A I N B O W S |

To get the most runs out of t2 ship invention you'd have to use full run BPCs with a decryptor that gives extra runs. But if you check it you'll realize that it isn't worth to have full run BPCs cause they take too much time to create.
Let's see an example: a Kestrel blueprint with maxed out skill and 5% implant on BP copying takes 50 hours to create a full run BPC (with no time bonus). And that's one BPC only. The problem is that it's not worth to use decryptors for any frigate invention, even with maxed out runs your costs will be way over than plain inventions. Not to mention you'll invent a lot faster with 1 run BPCs.
Heavy interdictors, command ships and larger ships, those are worth inventing with decryptor (not all of them though, some command ships are being sold under production cost currently). However, those need a lot more time to create a full run BPC. Example: Scorpion BPO needs 150 hours to create a full run BPC (again, with my skills and no time bonus). Add to this that battleships have only 20% base success rate.
tl;dr It's not worth to use max runs for ships so if you're using a decryptor with max run bonus (X), use 1 run BPC and calculate with 0+X (except where the max run of the BPO is 1, there you can use 1+X). |
