I have seen several camps in low sec now where the pirates have a nuetral +standing orca on the gate they camp at zero.
What happens is that everytime someone can defend themselves, they just dock the ship in the orca so it doesnt die and then get another one.
This is very silly and seems like an exploit to me. Or should be anyways. The only way anyone can get the orca off the gate would be to go GCC on it.
Am I the only one that thinks this?
So how do we fix this? Well just like logis, if a gcc char stores his ship in the orca with gcc then the orca gets gcc too!
Simple fix and fair i believe

So you come and cry on here when there is a orca to kill in low sec
You are a smart one indeed
Instead of crying next time just scram and web them some more/or just bump them off the orca and kill them
Your inability to adapt to a ever changing battle dosnt make it a exploit or a bug it just makes your stupid

+1 @ grazer gin.
Please do not post useless stuff here.
Oh noes... there is a pilot out there that is neutral and not in the Corp I am fighting against in LOW SECURITY SPACE!!! I can't kill them or I MIGHT get shot at... even though I am currently trying to kill a ship that docked with them...
Hmm... maybe try KILLING THE FREAKING ORCA AND GETTING A TWOFER!!!
If he jumps out... FOLLOW HIM... that is what interceptors were built for. Yargh. I be SGT Funyoun. King of the Pirates!!! |

Oh of course so just because i disagree with your stupidity i must be using that tactic
Your utter stupidity and inability to adapt amazes me there are soo many ways you could win that fight you even just suggested one yourself but instead you come here and cry your little eyes out about a so called "exploit" because you cant think of a way to counter it.

Okay riddle me this then, say the camp is on the high sec gate like most are, when the orca jumps its in high sec, complete risk free pvp..... what do you suggest then?

I suggest you shoot the people shooting you and if the orca comes back its not 15 from the gate and needs to align to warp off so you now proceed to SHOOT THE ORCA.
The fact i had to explain this out to you means you really have no place in lowsec or eve for that matter so its my opinion that you leave now and save yourself the tears

anyways i wont get into an arguing match with these guys that obviously use the exploit.
I'll just make this one point that I believe is very valid.
If you help anyone with gcc you should get gcc yourself. This goes for allowing ships to be stored in your vessel too. Just like what they did to logi and repping gcc peeps.
I dont mind the orca is there as long as I am able to shoot it freely of losing sec status too!
Thank you CCP

Arr you cant think of a counter to our comments cant say why we are wrong to say JUST SHOOT THE ORCA and thus we must be using a "exploit" that ccp dosnt deem a exploit
Quite pathetic really

Riiiight... just because I commented negatively I MUST be using this so called "exploit". Firstly I have never had a reason to dock up with an Orca as of yet. I don't use this TACTIC because I am more worried about KILLING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!! I fly in a ship that can stand up to an onslaught of gun fire. If it can't I WARP OUT AND TRY AGAIN. Yargh. If you dock your ship into another with GCC, then the ship you dock in should recieve GCC as well. They gave GCC to repping logis and thus need to do the same to docking ships in low sec.
Thank you CCP

hi
it's stupid that you can dock a ship in orca or carrier when agressed, it's most annoying at station undock or hi sec gate, risk free ganking ftw? what's so difficult to understand?

Agreed, it isn't technically considered an exploit yet but it needs to be. It also needs to be fixed by transferring GCC and any other aggression timers just like with RR.
For the idiots who claim there is a counter, there really isn't. The orca in question sits 0m from a high sec gate (where you can't attack him without having a suicide gank setup) or on a station. They are genuinely impossible to kill. That said, that really is the high sec station camp version. Low sec typically uses carriers on stations so they can cram bigger ships in and then just dock since they don't have any aggression timers.
An overhaul to this type of thing has made it pretty high on the list of things to fix fortunately. Currently it is planned to have RR and other remote effects count towards the aggression timer (the one blocking docking/jumping) much like shooting someone. I think docking ships will also be added to that but I'm unsure on that part.

Although I've never seen this tactic, surely destroying the Orca would be your best bet. The sec hit would be minimal and you'd have the last laugh.

An orca has about 280k EHP.
You can do about 11000 Alpha in a Tempest.
Meaning you'd need 26 Tempests, all locking the Orca at the same time, all firing at the same time, to kill it.
Or else he'll just jump out/dock.

I was just taking some random EFT fit, but I challenge you to destroy that Orka with a normal number, say, 4 BSses, which doesn't scare that orka into just jumping out anyway (if I saw 10+ bsses, let alone 26, that's what I would do)

You posted an argument based on numbers, to dismiss the option of destroying the Orca. Please do tell us your fit.

Ties into the broken aggression mechanics, which CCP have admitted that they can't fix because its a hodge-podge of code added over years of development.
Ideally any sort of assistance of an aggressed party should transfer said aggression or be "unhealthy" in some other way.
All will be well in 7-8 years when CCP gets around to rewriting the code .. until then you will have to bring blobs everywhere you go or abuse the same broken mechanics.

Now if you field gangs that are simply just Tempests with that fit, you will have issues. I don't see a neut anywhere. Mixed fleet with dedicated ships is the way.
Plus that Orca is slow. Would it always work? Well no, there is a chance he could jump before you bump him off. But unless you try, you wouldn't know.

This trick is not only used with Orcas but also in lowsec with carriers hugging stations providing remote reps...
I once tried to bugreport it, but I was told not to bugreport something that clearly worked as intended. I guess I was naive that day...
Transferring GCC wont solve all the issues using this mechanism. I would rather you could not store ships or use ships while having gccc and/or aggro.

Well yea station fighting is boring and anyone that has come across it, tends to avoid it's futility.
I'm not saying this mechanic is right, but if someone want to risk that ship for a BC, then let them. I'd just look for ways of killing it, rather than whining about it.
