Hey everyone, I just started playing eve about 4 or 5 days ago on a trial account and since then upgraded. Im currently working as a Miner and was wondering one any tip that i might have missed in the Wiki guides. So far i have this
-2Million ISK every hour and a half. -Osprey Fitted with two Mining Laser Upgrades (Total of 10% Yield bonus) -Osprey Fitted with two Miner II and one XeCl Drilling Laser (Might not be the correct name.) -Badger For transporting (Just upgraded to the Badger MK II) -Per Yield im pulling in 888.33
Is there anyway i can improve? Im also starting the training for a Mining Barge. Thanks in advance.

You can improve your isk per hour by doing things other than mining in high security.

Edited by: Kesshisan on 23/08/2011 14:39:22 Pretty much anything in EvE will net you more isk than mining so long as you are intelligent about it.
Manufacturing Station Trading Running Missions Running Incursions High Sec Scanning Hauling (Failing contracts) Ninja Salvaging
To name a few.
I've heard good things about Isk The Guide. I've never used this product so I can't speak from experience, but it is commonly recommended.
Now if you want to mine for fun, or just to be lazy, don't let me talk you out of it. But it seems like you're interested in maximizing profits per effort hour. High sec mining won't do that for you.

mining is okay, but only really makes sence when starting or when in a hulk.
Use minning as something to do between other activities and as a back up. In between fleets say do a bit while waiting for one to form up or something is fine but minning all the time would be mind numbing.
another poster posted some things to do...but as you..my number 1 goal would be to find a good helpfull corp...
that will make the game more fun and give you people to do things with. If your corp is running missions run missions with them. ______ Hello WoW players. Look at your toon, now back to me. Sadly it isn't me, but if it wasn't simplistic pre scripted linear mono dimensional game you could look like me. I'm in a Paladin |

Hi Taimy, Welcome to Eve!
My best advise to you would be to find a helpful corp. Through a corp you can find out what you do and don't like to to in Eve. It is nice to be with a group of experienced players who can give advise and answer questions. Check this link here and stop by and visit us.
Good luck and fly safe.

If you are seious about mining this is your bible. Also with many alt miners no longer being a part of the active subscription base, your income just may start to increase a good bit. Or maybe not if the bots still go crazy

got to agree, the most money you can make in this game is trading items, buy things cheap raise their prices that kinda thing.
Find a helpfull corp so you can get your personal items cheaper make your profits that more noticable.
Mining definetly is for thouse who have put some time into training for hulks and have Orca support. Thouse who mine typically have a group that they mine with rather then just themselves.

Hey Taimy.....welcome to Eve!
Well, theres so many things that can be done, so Ill just give u my 2cents worth. I mostly do mining, courier missions, pve missions, (PI on the shelf atm) for the last 2 years. I got very close to 2 bil in ISKs, before a couple of unfortunate ganks...anywaz
you'll see that u'll run into a few fellow pilots who'll help u along the way, and then ull see what u enjoy doing. just remember not to get discouraged when ur brand new ship, which u worked so hard for and spent millions to get and fit, gets destroyed for no reason in hi-sec. IT WILL HAPPEN....
enjoy the game! some people take it to seriously..... feel free to hit me up in game. ive been helped alot, and i dont mind helping if i can :)

Mining is a very lucrative profession, especially when combined with industry.
However, this is primarily in 0.0.
To learn the ropes of the game, I would recommend picking a battle cruiser you like. Training to fly it well. Then going back to mining once you find a good corp / alliance.
my 2 cents, but you can make it as a pure miner, find an indy corp though

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 29/08/2011 00:45:29 ISK really isn't the be-all and end-all of the new player experience in Eve. With a few million ISK you can jump into pretty much any element of the game on a casual basis. ISK accumulation will become important later on if you decide to pursue certain activities, particularly in serious PvP corps or if you're trying to be a major player in the industrial scene.
I was a newb back before ISK-generation was as accessable as it is today, so I mined quite a bit while I trained up my combat skills to take on missions and belt rats. But the same general notion still applies in 2011. Train up the skills to run missions (most of these skills also apply directly to PvP performance if you get into that) and just mine as a pasttime (I still own a Hulk that I use now and then, for no reason other than to lol around when I need a change from my usual Eve activities.) If you don't own a Hulk, mining is not a worthwhile occupation in this game if you're anything other than a very, very new player. Your first mission ship will probably be financed either by mining or salvaging though, so for now keep blasting those asteroids.

Originally by: Pou Tau Mining is a very lucrative profession, especially when combined with industry. However, this is primarily in 0.0.
I mine in 0.0 for production of T1/T2 ship <= BCs.
Two points, some pointed out -
1/ If you mine only to make ISK. Stop right now, and do something else. High sec mining isn't worth it, and being as new as you are - you'll die (or be extremely frustrated) doing it elsewhere.
2/ For production it is worth it (for me, other may disagree) - but you need a decent mining ship (Covetor at least, else you will cry yourself to sleep at the time it takes gathering ore) and productions skills (which are easy to get into). Blueprints - get copies at first, researched, watch out for scams.
The second option can be very lucrative depending on the market.
EDIT: I suck at spelling too
