How do you calculate the cost of your courier contracts? I never know if i'm asking too much (contracts being accepted istantly) or too few (contracts sits there for days). It always seems like a fair price to me, but still the huge difference between contracts being or not being accepted.
Not only that: sometimes i need to move just a few items for few jumps (30m¦ for 2 or 3 high sec jumps) and i don't know how much i should ask.
So, what's your method? Is there a formula you do apply or something?
Thanks.

Reward of 2% of the collateral usually works.
The more the reward, the faster it is likely to get moved.

So let's make an example, according to your post:
i must move 50 items that are big 5m¦ each and worth 1 million isks each that is a total of 250m¦ (easily doable in a t1 frigate, and keep in mind that i'm talkin'about 2 or 3 jumps in high sec) and worth a total of 50 mil then i must ask a collateral of 50 millions isks then according to you i should pay 2% of 50 mil that is 1 million isk
1 million isk for moving 250m¦ for a couple of high sec jumps?
I dont think so...

Red Frog Freight, the best-known hisec haulers in EVE, charge 500k + 350k per jump, so 1.55m for your 3 jump example.
Hauling is profitable because most hate to do it.

500k per trip, any trip. 1M if it's freighter-sized or I'm feeling particularly generous. Never fails to be picked up and delivered within a day. ---

Depends on how generous I feel. Usually not to much. If it's a long distance courier, I usually set it up between the nearest trade hubs, than from the destination trade hub to where I wanted it to go. Seems to work out faster that way from my experience. People seem more likely to pick up contracts among routes they can make a profit on anyway and than add to it by doing my courier contract.

no matter how big the collerateraaral or cargo, or how far it goes, i never reward more then 1m and ive never had one not get picked up in a day or so.

People will haul them as long as they deem them profitable. You can easily have 2.5b hauled for a 1m reward from Jita to Amarr, for instance.
Normally I pay somewhere around 2 mil for 10 jumps, 3m or 4m for up to 30 jumps. I used red frog for a while, till I found out that public contracts are not only cheaper, but they also provide more collateral and even more important, they're almost always faster.

Edited by: Marchmain on 27/08/2011 23:35:27 Looked at some of these the other night out of curiosity while I was doing distribution missions on my hauler alt and determined that most of them are idiotic and you would have to be a drooling tard to be willing to accept the terms and reward offered. If it is worth less than a distribution mission reward it is not worth doing imo.

I pay 10k ISK per jump for anything that doesn't require a freighter to move. 10k m3 stuff to move 10 jumps? Put it up for 100k. 15 jumps? 150k.
All my courier contracts get picked up within 30 mins when I post them.
However I only place orders for stuff through continuous highsec space.

I usually only setup couriers for lowsec stuff, then I usually offer around 100k-150k/jump if it fits in a BR/DST. Unless it's a deathtrap system it's usually done pretty quickly (or if everyone is somehow convinced it's a trap since with me it's often a ship so the round numbers I think gives pause). I usually put a pretty high collateral on though just to keep the newbs away since I actually want the stuff and the last time I put a lower collateral on I got a failed contract and a pleading mail from a newb wanting their money back because they didn't realize their ship wasn't big enough to move the cargo. (I took pity on him btw since they were obviously pretty new.)
In highsec though you can pretty much put any price you want if it's hub to hub, more if it's to an out of the way system making it a special trip.
