been playing it for a few days now. LOVING IT.
Just a few issues I've had that makes it a 9/10-game instead of a 10/10-game..
never invest praxis-points in more batteries. only put points in recharging the ones you get from the start. there's NO benefit for having more batteries, since they don't recharge... and the boost-bars you can get still only fills up one battery. was annoying realizing I'd basically wasted three points :(
there's no New Game +. first few playthroughs are for story and achievements... the rest are for messing about. should've atleast unlock new game + if you beat the game on hard or something. (paraphrasing) they did it because "Deus Ex games aren't about being nberpowerful. it's about having to choose carefully" ... well in the first game you ended up basically being a pretty good God impersonator... and it even had a cheat-code at the beginning of the game that gave you everything.
... *grumble*
Also yeah, you can save Malik.
Also^2, if you use the tranquillizerrifle on someone's head, there's a chance they'll die. so pay attention to that if you're going for the pacifist achievement. was half-way through the third mission when I realized that a lot of the people I'd knocked out with the tranq-rifle in the beginning of the mission had skulls rather than the Zzzz when I hovered over them.
so... I sold most of my pacifist weapons and started using a silenced pistol. a lot more ammo, a lot more accurate, a lot less hard.

Oh? I didn't know that, thanks for the warning.
Much easier to shoot them in the butt. they're MUCH less likely to notice it and it's always non-lethal. it only takes a bit longer. one of the later enemies with heavy armor and a heavy rifle took 40 seconds to fall (hint: take him out last).
Originally by: Sobach if the battery recharges fully, then you can basically run through the entire game doing cloak > double-takedown on everyone for lulz every few minutes.
well... 5 batteries would still take 1 minute and 40 seconds to fill up, fully upgraded. hardly overpowered.

It's more open than Deus Ex: Invisible War was.. if that tells you anything.
I focused more on hacking and stealth than any of the other 'disciplines'... and knowing I'd be playing entirely stealth to get the "Foxiest of Hounds" And "Pacifist" achievements in my next playthrough.. I've been on the look out for places where I *had* to hack a console or door, or HAD to kill/knock out several enemies close to eachother... I've not noticed too many places like that.
That said... the game coaches you towards a particular playstyle the whole time. you get the most XP for double-take-downs, with single-take-downs a close second. so someone who doesn't leave any bodies on the ground and goes *truly* unseen will be penalized, XP-wise. you will also get a lot less XP if you favor a heavy rifle.
oh yeah, on the ammo-situation. I figured at the beginning that the pistol was the only weapon that could be silenced... so I chose it as my weapon of choice. and in the beginning of the game that was a wise decision. ammo was abundant. now at the end though... I haven't found a single bullet for the last three missions.
do yourself a favour (unless you're going for pacifist), choose the machine pistol and you'll have a near-constant flow of ammo to pick up. second only to the shotfun (yes).

they could solve the imagined 'overpowered' nature of all batteries recharging by having double-takedowns cost two batteries. *shrugs* but yeah, stealth+takedown isn't even close to as easy and powerful as a silenced shot to the head.
also found this in an email: FROM: OMEGA_ADMIN TO: OMEGA_ALL
"Due to the high toxicity of materials routinely handled in the compound, no smoking, eating or drinking is permitted outside of designated safety zones. Remember, failure to comply with Omega Ranch policy and regulations can and will result in immediate termination"
Followed by another email from and to the same as above:
"A reminder that the Omega Ranch Interdepartmental Mensa Competition will commence this evening at 1900 hours. The semi-finals for high security personnel will be announced in a separate secure access transmission. Remember, more lives than your own may depend on your mental fitness."
Awesome!

and another one:
FROM OMEGA_ADMIN TO OMEGA_ALL
"a reminder to all omega ranch personnel: regular radiation and bio-hazard screenings are a requirement of continued employment in the omega ranch research facility. Missing scheduled urinalysis or radiation check-up is grounds for immediate termination. If you feel you have been exposed to radioactive or other hazardous materials in the course of your duties, contact your radiation safety officer immediately. Work safe, work smart, your future may depend on it."

and suddenly I no longer wish for another Legacy of Kain game... odd that.
as for the ending. yeah, it sucked. I don't think I spotted any real differences between the actual videos of the different endings... only the voice-overs. they could've at least shown the destruction of the installation (if you chose that option).

I just earned 'Foxiest of the hounds' and 'pacifist' yesterday. feels really good to once again be able to snipe someone in the head and just walk away.
some things that I learned: 1) If you leave someone sleeping and you later come back to find them dead, it doesn't count as you killing them. (I left two people sleeping in an elevator only to find them dead later on). 2) People being 'Alarmed' doesn't count as setting off an alarm. (it will however stop you from getting the 'Ghost(500)' bonus). 3) **Spoiler** in a certain part of the game you get the option to save someone and it's *very* hard to do as a pacifist. thankfully, if you leave them to their dire fate, you can still get the achievement, as a bonus you'll feel like an ***** for the rest of the game though. 4) I didn't do the kevorkian bit this playthrough. in fact, it's probably best to do as few sidequests as possible. 5) the 28-days-later-zombies in the end wont set off any alarms so it doesn't matter if they see you or not. take a P.E.P.S with you, it's cone-like attack can take out all of them in once sweep.
