Edited by: Sukara Otomeya on 25/08/2011 11:07:47 Greetings fellow capsuleers.
One of the problems corporations have when it comes to manufacturing is the lack of proper role division. Security is always an issue and in order to give players full access you have to trust them completely. There is no middle path and CCP is unwilling to provide one as well. This resulted more then once in corporations/alliances being destroyed by corporate theft.
I've been thinking about the issue and took a closer look on how most corporations deal with this issue. I came up with a idea on how to approach manufacturing differently and I was wondering if there are any corps in New Eden that actually use this method.. The idea is to have the corporate members own all the BPOs while the corp itself doesn't own any. The corporation is the main entity that sells products, deals with clients and in the end has the reputation. The members are the actual builders, miners, researchers and whatnot. Since the corp doesn't own any BPOs, they cannot be stolen. With no BPOs there is also no need for anyone to get any manufacturing roles or anything like that. As a result, there is no corporate theft.
Now, I hear you thinking.. If the corp has no BPOs, then how can the corp produce any goods at all? Simple, the corp doesn't, the members do. Every member builds up his own collection is BPOs. When an order comes in, members can choose to use their BPO to help build the items for the order, the payout being split among the members who participated. As a result, the members of the corp are as important as the corp is to its members. I realize there are some details that need attention, this is just a global outline.
My question is if there are any corps in New Eden are working this way, and if so what kind of problems are they running into? Would a system like this work?
ps. I hope I placed this in the right forum. :)

What is the problem with voting for a lock down so they are stuck in a hanger, and then just use copies?
We have over 500+ BPOs, all locked down in one hanger. You can still use them as normal, just not able to move them.
Ya it can be a pain to find the BPO in need, but all you have to do is make a search on the top left..

You only need to lockdown BPO if you don't trust the CEO & directors. Otherwise just put them in a hangar division With QUERY and without TAKE.
