Ok so I decided for the first time in like 3 years that I was going to run some missions. My motivation is really that I wanted to see what all the fuss was about in Level 4 missions and I have some friends of mine that like running missions together so I figuired what the hell, lets grind it up and try them out.
So we ran a bunch of level 3 missions for security and we get our first story mission. I thought cool, something interesting, a nice reward.
Than I read the mission. It requests I bring them 10,000 Omber.. Eh say what? I'm neither a miner or a hauler and their was nothing on the market to purchase for that station so this mission which has zero combat despite being given by security is now forcing me (unless I abandon it and take the standing hit) to bring some guy resources? Really? This is a good story mission for a combat pilot?
Just thought I would point how stupid it was.

Edited by: Argaon on 26/08/2011 08:27:25 I played about 300+ storylines....what i want to say...probability to take an ecounter/mining mission depends from what mission you running in 16 normal quest before that storyline...if all ecounter its 90% you take ecounter storyline,if 50/50%...you take 75% mining/transport storyline...if all mining...you have about 10% for ecounter storyline....and probability also depends what storyline agent give you mission...bz an security agent give you 90% encounters quest etc.......

So what is the problem? Only takes you a hauler , look on the market where you can buy this omber cheap and safe , will not even cost you much and as a reward you get a nice +3 implant that is worth about 5 times the value of those 10000 units of omber and a small increase in your faction standing ---------------------------------------------- God knows everything but a true amarrian knows everything even better |

These missions appear after I think 16 missions for any other agent; what you can do is buy two or three times the amount of ore you need, leave it at the agent's station and if you get the mission again, simply accept and complete and get the payment or standings increase.
This is the same for R&D agents who ask you to provide ore to help with their research

this is good chance for trade starters. People are lazy to get haul omber. So they prefer to buy omber right on the agent's station. So you can make some money to supply it =)
I made it once. Bought little more than i needed and sold other part in agent's station for 2x-3x of price.

Tip: buy as much Omber as you can easily haul. Sell the surplus at a nice markup to other people in the same situation as yourself.

This is so wrong. Storylines are supposed to be random. Not based on the mission type you have been running.
I have done hundred's of missions for Caldari Navy and CPF encounter missions and 99% of my storylines are trade/mining/courier. In the past 2 or 3 years I think I have gotten 4 encounter storylines, and 3 of those were in the past 2 months.

I run 100% security missions and I don't remember the last time I got a combat storyline. It's always 'Materials for war'. I agree, it's pretty stupid, but that seems to be the norm for CCP.

This. I ran level 4 combat missions for months, and every storyline was to give ore. I just started running level 1 couriers on my research alt, and the first storyline was combat. Figures.

Hmmm, you need to do something else for a change. That works out to about 18 missions a day, 7 days a week.

Please let me know the agent's name and I will remedy the situation of there being 0 Omber in the situation.
In fact, if you still have the mission available I'll even haul and contract the 10,000 Omber you need to you for free.
Thank you. . |

Edited by: Leetha Layne on 26/08/2011 16:00:48 I always find that some enterprising miner has filled the agent's station with reasonably priced Omber. I buy it and complete the mission.

Last I checked, you can also ignore the mission (don't accept it) and it will expire without a standings hit.

All the storyline mission agents from a faction pull from the same pool. CCP has not created enough different storyline missions to have a courier set for distribution agents and combat missions for combat agents (at least not yet; though maybe they will get around to it after nerfing supercaps or after further iteration on faction warfare or after changing POS mechanics or after the sun burns out).
The materials for war mission is always a quick little money maker, the implants are worth much more than the ore. The mission is so quick, the faction standings gain is not much, and that's usually what folks complain about.
You can decline storyline missions just like regular missions, without any standings losses. It is less likely a solo pilot would be back in four hours for another storyline mission, though mission running in fleets could change that a lot.

Hi. Which bot do you use?
100 storyline missions in 3 months is slightly over 1 storyline mission a day. Assuming he was blitzing as many as possible he could probably get a mission done, on average, in about 15 minutes. 16 missions at 15 each = 4 hours per storyline mission.
Now there are about 90 days in 3 months. 90*1.11 equals about 100. So lets take our time and multiply by an extra 11% just to take care of that. 4 hours*1.11 = 4.44 hours. Or about 4 hours and 26 minutes. Lets round up to 4 hours 30 minutes.
If one worked hard for 4 hours 30 minutes a day, every day, I could feasibly see someone completing 100 storyline missions in 3 months.
Also I'd still like to know which station was the station which prompted this thread. I'd love to move some omber. . |

Also, in EVE, the term "I" doesn't necessarily refer to one character. "I" am regularly running two or three missions at the same time ... especially atm when it's an orgy of courier missions.
That same "I" just completed a couple of lvl4 epic arcs over the weekend, to receive a pair of nice sansha shield implants.
It seems that the "Eve-I" is kinda the opposite of the "Royal-we".

What annoys ME the most, is that lately I get tons of courier storyline missions, when I run only encounter missions. The courier missions itself is ok, but why the hell you give transport 8k cargo for 5 jumps and pays whole 300 k isk? is that a 4 lvl storyline worth? I don't mind doing the ones with 50k cargo and 5 kk isk bonus, but sometimes it looks like I get 3 lvl storyline for 4 lvl missions.

Very annoying!
Tonight I'm blitzing lvl3 security missions for Brutor tribe while my alt is doing lvl4 courier missions for Core to raise standings for R&D.
So my Brutor agent sends me to a Brutor sec agent who gives me a courier storyline. Fly alt down 25 jumps to do it.
Shortly after my alt gets back he gets given a storyline with a Core mining agent who gives him a lvl4 combat mission. Fly main 25 jumps up there to do it.
So much stuffing around.

Hmmm, I'd have to agree with Argaon. I usually do encounter missions and the majority of the storyline missions I get offered are also encounter missions.
