Originally by: Dane El That's just one example. Consider this one. Two corps go to war. They're evenly matched in every way and really get after it blowing up tons of ship. Both corps run low on ISK. One buys a bunch of PLEX and restocks. The other ships down to cheap T1 fits and gets roflstomped. How is that OK to the anti-RMT crowd?
Can you cite an example of this ever actually happening? It seems wildly impractical to spend hundreds of dollars buying subcaps to fight a losing war when you can simply reform the corp in a few minutes to evade a wardec.
If you're talking about nullsec alliances, then you'd actually be talking many tens of thousands dollars, not hundreds. Again, please cite your examples.
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

Originally by: Dane El It is interesting that we have huge outrage generated by the NEX, which sells nothing but vanity items so far, while the PLEX system, which will allow you to buy virtually anything in the game, has been around for a while and is accepted.
This "no RMT" campaign appears doomed because you missed when the fight actually took place. Once CCP introduced PLEX and GTC, they won. Pay to Win is already implemented and accepted by the community. You're fighting over monocles and boots while I could go out and buy a carrier and a pilot capable of flying it with $ right now if I so desired.
Plex is a 3 way street. It's for those who want to P2W. It's for those who want free play. And it benefits CCP. Though it may allow one to purchase anything in the game, it does not allow one to purchase items exclusive to Plex. Anyone can buy anything with certain amounts of effort. Ideally, I would rather Eve be subscription only. That's just not to be. For a great many, Plex is acceptable as mutually benefiting all parties concerned.
The NeX offers exclusive items in the form of vanity. Many are absolutely terrified that it will also offer exclusive items that impart special abilities that fundamentally alter the competitiveness of the game. See, you and I can meet on the battlefield. You pay your way through the game. I grind my way through the game. Everything else being equal, we still have an even chance of winning/losing. If the NeX becomes what people fear it will become, well then, now, me the grinder, can only bring a knife to your gun fight. There is no sense of fairness because there is no fairness. At that point CCP should offer clubs and puppies. Give the clubs to those that are willing to pay for them and let them club the puppies to death in a display of their vast superiority. That's what the NeX represents.

Originally by: Ms Kat the games already pay to win riah hate to break it to you, but plex = isk.. isk = powah so yeah. already happened your a bit late
Hate to break it to you, but isk does not equal powah.
Remember Sir Molle, had a ton of isk, thought he had all the power in eve online, and the goons robbed him of 3 titans in 2 weeks.
Power in this game, does not come from one's personal wallet, it comes from the combined efforts of yourself, your corp, your alliance, and the many friends who are your personal spies to make sure your enemies are stabbed in the back.

plex gives isk to buy items MADE BY players
