I believe this event has been suspended permanently.
1. The organizer I believe was banned [at least from the forums] during the protests over Incarna. 2. It would seem a "monocle-geddon" was put forward by someone as a new event to replace this one. 3. See EVE-search for additional stuff.
*This is rumor only* - hopefully someone with facts can put in a post and confirm or deny this whole thing... but I think the event IS dead.

The original organizer was banned and I've not heard of anyone picking it up.
Monoclegeddon? Great idea but how?

Hold your shorts!!!!!
I will take the mantle and run with it holding it high.
As soon as I can produce a new page and find funding for the event I will announce the next open season on hulks and such.
I had planned on making a thread with the announcement, but this one will work for now.
If anyone is interested in helping with either content design or scouting for sponsors please evemail me and let me know.
My plans are of course to continue the great hunt and add a couple yest to be announced features. Any ideas the community wants to throw in I will look at and try to implement.
Until then.....

Hulkageddon was simply a yearly money-making scheme for the organizer, since s/he had a Hulk BPO. Being able to undercut all competitors in the selling of Hulk replacements to all those that were lost.
That person no longer plays the game. So unless someone else has a Hulk BPO, probably not much to motivate anyone to organize it again.

I certainly don't have a hulk BPO (never been much of a carebear) but I hate to see events like these die. Hulkageddeon brought something to EVE that is hard to find. That is a mass of people from accross the globe (IRL) with different agendas fighting the same fight.
I am/will carry the mantle and soon enough it will be reborn

Hulkageddon was also a decent money-making exercise for people who harvest ice. If your ship doesn't get blown up, you get to profit from the raised ice prices. The last Hulkageddon triggered a rise in the selling price of Blue Ice (as a random example) from about 60k ISK to 150k ISK. This is why you had the odd situation of carebears sponsoring Hulkageddon.

The organizer of Hulkageddon 1 - 4, Helicity Boson, recieved a permaban for "whishing a GM to burn in a fire IRL (and as far as i can remember even calling the GM¦s RL name). Hence this event died. If other posters pretend to be Helicity Boson in this thread (the one who has¦nt got a Hulk BPO) proof or GTFO.
Furhter on to note that this event did¦nt have an impact on macroers, mineral prices, to the economy in general beside of a slight "high" on hulk, catalyst and thrasher prices for two weeks. All it did was a bit of "grief" on highsec miners, as no hulkageddoner was seen in null or low, because of "wet pants syndrom".

It had run its course anyway. The event was no longer what it originally aimed to be but instead had degenerated into a griefer event which targetted industrials as well for no good reason. It was getting to the "shoot anything which doesn't have guns in high sec" variety of "event"
Make something which lived up to the original idea and includes nullsec. Kill the bots there. That will be a real event and with guys taking part who can actually fight instead of pretend wannabes in highsec.

Not so much.
Myself and a handful of others (not you :) ) will handle all aspects of this event.
Everyone should be mindful of scammers like this guy. I will be funding the majority of the prizes from my pocket for this one as my reputation only extends so far.
All prizes will be held by the respective sponsor or myself until the event is finished. Accept no subsitute.
When I have finished the webpages and other needed items I will post an official announcement.

This event is like a tired and worn out roadtrip to some third rate hole in the wall club that one guy makes us all do "because it will be radical, dude".
The room still smells like Helicity's burnt carcass, and the b*tching and arguing over who's gonna do what has killed the positive vibe. +1 for perishing anyone who was dumb enough to buy an "optical scr@tum" and any other fashion fail that supports NEX and AUR. |

/me looks over at that carcass smoking in the corner of the room.
Helicity got smited. Well and fair. That doesn't change the fact that he did what he did because CCP was wrong. An open season on "Fashion Failward" NEX items might unite a large part of New Eden. It could also put a nice little bump in CCP's road to fast profit for the "Wii warrior" game console crowds and the fail sink known as Dust. If enough people start losing all kinds of ships because of their poor fashion choices maybe sales of NEX items will drop.
I'd be interested to see what happens when something player driven targets a CCP financial scheme directly... |

NOBODY will trust anyone with the Prize ships. At all. Period. And. final.
This event must be for the event only, and for no prizes if it is even going to happen.
The event does need to return to it's original spirit of ELIMINATING HULKS. The inclusion of Industrials and even the frickin' NOCTIS was absurd.
Also, profits on Hulk sales are minimal at this time athough high volume, and ICE prices rise A BIT for about 3 weeks then back to normal. No other market effects at all, so "H'geddon helps the Economy" is a bald-faced lie to grief new game players, most of whom, believe it or not, usually HAVE NO IDEA OF THE SILLY EVENT, AT ALL.
It's either for fun or for nothing. Make up your minds. **************************

I guess that you are missing the point;
The fight was to make money semi covertly.
Every year I mentioned that people only did it for the payout. Every year I was told I was wrong, and that people did it for the lulz. Then the payouts stopped, then the ganking stopped.
The lulz are all mine. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

Thousands of people enjoy ganking because they enjoy ganking. They don't do it for prizes or anything virtually tangible. They simply do it because for a time investment of mere hours, they can destroy something that is weeks worth of time investment to others.
Accusations of ulterior motives aside, Helicity was one person who was able to garner some attention in that crowd of people by offering some prizes if they would shoot something specific. The prizes provided a small edge that attracted people. Fun vs. Fun + isk, and they'll go for the latter. Would be dumb not to. As soon as it veered away from just Hulks, which was inevitable, it became less of an event. When it started out, it worked because it lived up to it's name. It was about Hulks. Otherwise it would have been called Whatevergeddon, which doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
There have been a few threads in the past couple months of people claiming to be picking up the Hulkageddon torch, but people don't trust anyone else to hold prize money or whatever is chosen to be given out. Add to that the lack of focus, and the event is simply floundering like a fish out of water, gasping for air.
I mine in a Hulk, and as much as I hate the event, I would suggest the following for setting up a new Hulkageddon.
Someone who can be trusted with the money and/or items used as prizes needs to be willing to step forward and support the event. CCP might even consider the idea of having an employee be an official event prize holder (this might actually increase creation of different events). Instead of making the rules "person who kills the most hulks between the start and finish date wins", restrict it more. Change it to "person who kills the most Hulks *consecutively* between start and finish date wins." This would encourage participants to only go after Hulks. It would also allow other users to interfere with the contestants by trying to bait them into killing something other than a Hulk in order to break the chain.

I still do not entirely understand the joy of suicide ganking a stationary ship with no offensive capability. I understand the arguments about how evil carebears are and how dare they build our ships and whatnot but...
...it reminds me of Duck Hunt, only the ducks don't move, ever. And that annoying dog only laughs at you when you remind him you are a serious PvPer who has won many (fights ?).
