Currently there seems to be a barrier on what I care to do, and how much I care to help my friend. His name is Steve, and he is 19 and lives with his parents. My thoughts: Ideal corp-mate!
Anyway, Steve is flying around in a Kestrel in level 1 missions and keeps saying there is no player interaction. I tried to fly with him but I am so awesome I tend to finish the mission for him while he sits there.
I am just saying there should be some kind of mode where my skills drop down to his level, or his skills raise to my level for the purposes of social interaction.
We ran a level 4 mission and one time he was slow on the warp out just prior to a new wave and he lost his kestrel.
There seems to be a opening here for improvement.

Options: 1. You make new char and run lvl1 with him? 2. You grab t1 frigate and go lvl1/lvl2 with him? 3. You are so awesome so your t1 frigate kills whole resp in a sec (like old doom device)? Then take rooki ship and assist your friend. 4. Make a gang and go to low/zero-sec to attack anybody around. You will loose your t1 frigates fast but he will got nice "player interaction". ......

The best place for him would be in a noob-oriented corp like eve university. Interaction between high and low level players is actually much better than in most other mmos (try grouping as a lvl 50 w/ a lvl 10 in most classic mmos). At the end of the day though, you really need to be hanging around people that are your skill level if you want a good social experience. There are low level incursions, low level wormholes once you get to the point where you can afford to lose a cruiser/BC, and of course group missing running works fine as well.
Also (as much as I hate to say it, because I hate the MT element), the full rollout of walking in stations will go a long way towards getting that social feeling that is so lacking in this game. If player interaction is at the top of your list in an MMO, eve is definitely a tough game to get into. I've tried to get 2 friends into the game, and one left because he never made an effort to connect with people. The other guy quit the first time after our corp fizzled out, and then I dragged him back into the game and threw him into 0.0, where he's now a happy elite level FC/CEO 4 years later.

I have been dealing with a similiar situation, got 4 of my friends into the game recently.
What we have been doing is level 3 missions, with my main flying a frigate and letting them handle the big stuff while I handle the little stuff and than about half way through the mission when they have it under control I warp out and grab the Noctis for clean up.
Its worked really well in terms of profit and it can be challenging even for my main to survive some of these encounters in a frigate.
But for player interaction its low sec in frigates and cruisers or we scan out a wormhole with my main and roll the dice. We also occassionally do some criminal ops like harrasing minors in high sec (can theft) or low sec miner hunting.

I know we take liberties with what is socially acceptable in EVE but I think this is where I would draw the line!

I think Tom's been reading about the side-kicking system Guild Wars 2 will be using when released. Sounds just like it... except it's designed for areas that have very specific level targets.
Now, this really won't work with ships, will it? Are you going to side-kick someone up to where they can be a 2 week character flying the equivalent of some multi-year grey-beard? Wow, the abuse waiting to happen there...
I almost ignored this thread completely until I noticed the OP... it's like the car wreck you can't turn away from...

Guild wars II still took longer than WIS. I'm not really a CCP fanboi I'm just a Anet hater. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

Well, they won't release the game "until it's done", have to give them credit for that.
