Edited by: Juni Dogo on 30/08/2011 23:13:56 Hi there.
Now, this has probably been answered a thousand times before, but i just returned to eve after a long 2 years break. I havn't been following updates and all, so i am a bit lost here.
It is to my understanding that Incarna was ment to allow players to take control of their avatars, walk around their CQ and socialize with others within stations. But it seems only the CQ is available for the time being. With "walking in stations" to be released for a futur patch.
Does anyone have some information about this? When do they plan to release this patch? I have been looking for some clues, but couldn't find much anywhere. Me and my buddies are role-players, so obviously the chance to use our avatars to interact in social areas is a big deal for us.
I would appreciate any bits of information on that matter.
Again, my apologies if this has been asked too many times before.

Absolutly.
I am not expecting anything, but i am just curious. I have some friends who be interested to join eve to RP there. But it takes time to create a proper background and all. It's the only reason i am asking really. I am in no rush.

Fair enough.
I actually thought they would never release incarna at some point. I mean they talked about for so many years. The CQ are there at least, so i guess that's still something to be thankfull for.

People said WiS would come out when Duke Nukem was released. Presto Magicko! Both products equally Terribad.
Next iteration...interacting with other players...when NASA starts sending men to space again.

To be brutally honest, CCP's recent desicion making process on content and iteration seems to be something akin to how the banks have been handling the rl economic situation.
A good example is this

CCP's current plan, as far as I understand it, is to release the other three racial quarters sometime within the next few months, and maybe even within the next month. Hopefully we will see them on the test server within a few weeks. The multiplayer component (Establishments) might be released with the Winter 2011 expansion, or they may be pushed back to the Summer 2012 expansion. I suspect that we will not see Establishments before the end of this year at the earliest, but could be wrong.
Keep in mind that CCP only really started work on Incarna somewhere around the beginning of this year. Virtually all of the code and art assets shown in previous years were scrapped. Considering how old some of those assets were, that was probably a good decision. Furthermore, in the long run we'll be better off if CCP takes the time necessary to properly test and polish major releases such as Establishments, even if it means pushing back the release date by a few weeks or even months.

CCP started working on Incarna at least 5 years ago.

Yup, funny how the game itself (not WiS) needs a lotta care but theyre more interested in Alphaing the technology they are gonna roll out on WoD huh? -------- CCP knows better than the players whats good for their game. SOE knew what was best for SWG too. Better than all those players that left too. This is your NGE/CU moment CCP. |

Edited by: Jint Hikaru on 31/08/2011 07:50:27 TO be honest I have been trying to get an answer about this from CCP for quite a few weeks. Have been asking in many threads, Here is my latest thread.
CCP are doing their now all to common tactic of ignoring things they don't want to deal with and hoping they go away.
Some people are saying 'Establishments this winter'. I still have yet to see any information that explains what an 'establishment' will be. My fear is that tey wont be multiplayer environments at all. I bet 100Mil ISK that it's some crap you call up on your CQ screen! I don't want to be negative, I do like Eve, and think a fully functional WIS multiplayer environment would add a lot to the game, but.... CCP

Ok thanks, that's was the information i was epxecting.
So i guess there's no need to hold our breath. Well it is CCP afterall. I stopped playing 2 years ago for a reason :)
I wasn't aware of the microtransaction thing untill a few hours ago. What's up with that PLEX thing? Seems like an economy breaker to me, since you can buy them for real mony and sell them for Isks. I am not against Microtransactions, but i don't really like what i reading there.
Something tells me that this is what caused all those Amar outrage videos on youtube. Am i wrong?

Edited by: Brooks Puuntai on 31/08/2011 12:00:43 It really wasn't plexs that caused all the rage. People got use to plexs since it did allow those who couldn't pay RL money to play. However it was the fact that CCP added in the NeX store which allows you to convert Plex into Aurum and buy(for now) clothing for CQ. There was also a leaked internal document talking about going further with the Nex shop and adding in Non-Vanity items(skill boosters, faction standings, etc). Thats where alot of the rage is coming from.

CCP has said quite a few times that almost none of the assets shown in previous demonstrations of Ambulation/WiS were used in Incarna as we know it, aside from perhaps the core concept art and such. It's reminiscent of the development cycle for Team Fortress 2, where Valve developed several rather different prototype games over several years before settling on the final design. Incarna has only truly been in development for less than a year. Considering that some of EVE's core codebase is over seven years old, and that parts of it are probably still not fully documented, the technical aspects of Incarna are quite impressive. If Incarna's art and code had actually been in development for five years, it would look more dated than Duke Nukem Forever. Five-year-old technology would not be able to give us the current avatar system.
It is true that much of the work on Incarna is shared with WoD. However, this is not a bad thing in and of itself. Sharing of resources between projects is fairly common in the industry, not the least because it makes for efficient use of resources. Consider the number of games which use Valve's Source engine. Incarna was going to happen eventually, and resource sharing between EVE and WoD means that it happened sooner rather than later, and that EVE will benefit from WoD development, rather than be put on standby for a year or two.
