1 is a federal offense, 2 and 3 are not. 2 & 3 are legally considered harassment; don't know about CCP's views on that. All 3 are illegal in the US for sure. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

You mean, you've revealed your EVE identity to people in your rl world?

Edited by: RAW23 on 31/08/2011 20:00:41 Over on the MD forums we have had a reverse of this situation. A guy posted a bond offer and then, when faced with criticism decided that the appropriate response was to play internet detective and release RL data on someone who had been unkind about his offer. CCP took no action and he has continued to threaten to release personal data despite repeated petitions, so he is threatening out of game consequences for ingame actions. Yesterday he added that if people continued to criticise his bond offers he would find 'other fun things' to do with their real life data. So far CCP's response has been to remove the majority of posts warning about this guy's behaviour and the response to petitions has been a refusal to give any guarantee that this behaviour will be prevented. So, to those who think that CCP will take a dim view of people mixing RL and ingame interactions I would suggest that you think again.

Originally by: Maxpie I remember years back a pirate caught someone. The ransom they worked out was that the victim would have a pizza sent to the pirate's home in rl, which he actually did, much to the surprise of the pirate.
I always thought it was pure win, though I guess it could possibly be against the rules.
Wouldn't this:
A/ Require that both parties are in the same city/state (a statistical improbability) and B/ Require the pirate to give his address to his "victim"
A - No. I have done this for friends in other countries in Europe as a gift/joke a few times, not just with Pizza. I once paid for a 'cleaning' service to turn up at a divorced friend's house at 6am, ordered a takeaway chinese meal for delivery in the UK from Luxembourg, and so on... B - Yes. Otherwise no pizza...
I remember reading the story, was very funny. There was a note written on the inside of the pizza lid. The guy didn't actually give his address, but instead gave his parents address, there was some comedy when his mother read the note inside the lid.

Funny story if true. I'd bet 100 dollars that someone is making it up. At least the part where the pizza arrives with the note.

Several states in the US are passing anti online bulling laws which I'm guessing the facebook thing probably would violate. May not count for much if one party lives outside the US, but inside it could carry time.

Originally by: Zaara Arran Edited by: Zaara Arran on 31/08/2011 12:05:45 Hypothetical situation below. This has not happened to me ingame, and I don't intend to do this to anyone. I do wonder though, what the rules say about this.
So you have a mission runner ratting around in level fours with an expensive faction fit pimp-ship. This mission runner has no idea that someone with a personal grudge against him from outside of EVE has joined his corporation and found him in a mission. With a PvP ship at their disposal, they lock, web, scram, and quickly get the mission runner down to structure.
In the process, they open up a conversation with the mission runner and stop firing. The ransom is simple.
"Wire me money in real life, or you lose your ship and pod."
or maybe
"Tell your girlfriend you've cheated on her on Facebook right now, or you lose your ship and pod."
or maybe
"Delete your World of Warcraft character, or you lose your ship and pod."
Take your pick. The attacker has decided to ransom something outside of EVE Online from the desperate mission runner. Whether the mission runner is stupid enough to 'pay' the ransom or not over some internet spaceships is irrelevant. What I want to know is whether what the attacker is doing is allowed within the game rules or not.
If a GM were to take a look at those logs later, what action if any would be taken?
Where does internet spaceship piracy stop, and harassment begin?
Post your thoughts.
Simple:
Send him a big finger
Tell him you'll **** his dog, his cat, his puppy, mittens, his grandma
Tell him you've found his hidden ganja and he'll not have any more one minute later
Tell him to FO !

I have always preferred the "sing us xxx song on Ventrilo or you lose your ship"
Lots of good recordings saved on those ones. ----
