Tengu for lvl4 missions! Its about as effective as you can have, and IMHO is simply much more fun to fly than any BS. Scorpions advantage is passive tanking, so if that's what you want it may be right. Did you look at the Raven Navy btw?

The Tengu wins again here, it far out tanks and far out dps's the Navy Scorp..
Dont passive tank the Scorp active tank for the win, fit like a raven with bonus midslots..

You don't passive tank a Navy Scorp.
Navy Scorp can fit a cap stable 1000dps omni tank with just a T2 fit. VERY nice mission ship for the money. Plus it does the same damage to any damage type unlike the Tengu, which is very effective against Guristas and anything else vunerable to kinetic.
If you were running nullsec sanctums in gurista/serpentis space I'd recommend the Tengu everytime, however for overall mission running the Caldari battleships are often worth considering. Navy Scorp gets same DPS as a Raven (better than a Tengu for anything other than Kinetic).
If you want real **** for missions, you need a battleship, either a Golem or Machariel are my favourites.

Flew the SNI and Rattler for level 4 missions. Now fly the Tengu. It wins, hands down!
Now I truly love the Scorp hull, but once I started flying the Tengu there was not, for me, even a comparison any more. Just carry Scourge, Fury's and precisions and you can kill everything on the field (even spider drones which are a pain in the butt).

Depends if you wanna blitz or kill everything.
Tengu is great for Blitz but really not all that great for actually killing everything.
So depends on your style, Tengu is not as good as people say (sadly)
But if you want to kill everything don't go for a Tengu save the time and the cash.
And to anyone that says I flew it wrong or had a bad fit or whatever, love the Tengu all you want there are quite a few battleships that do it better and faster. The smell of Victory is only that of Our enemies rotting Corpses.

Sorry, I won't berate you, but you are flatly wrong. I am not saying that a top quality BS is not a good L4 option, but to say that the Tengu is not good for killing everything is not even close to correct. I have cleared every room in every L4 (and bonus rooms) with the Tengu easily as quickly (or more quickly) than I did in a battleship. Someone more highly skilled in a Raven Navy Issue or Golem, might be as capable or quick - that I do not know.
The Tengu is every bit as good as people say.

Never really liked the SNI or Rattle for missions, too slow. Back in the day what I missioned I used a CNR with focus on lots of dps. But the Tengu is actually pretty nice as a mission boat these days. Just beware the gankers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Depends on the context. In this thread, we are comparing it to an SNI. It could be slightly faster (depending on the fit of the SNI). Compared to pirate faction battleships it is much slower. For rushing certain missions it will be able to clear 100 mil an hour in hisec. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

with using the battleships i'm saving isk with not buying t2 heavy's for my drake. it appears to be better as well, can shoot anything at 90km compared to my targeting at 70km and only being able to hit them at 60km. for the most part killing is much easier in my raven then the drake

Just don't compare Tengu with your experiences from the Drake, they are actually very different ships. They can use the same launchers, but the bonuses and ROF on Tengu makes the DPS another story. With the right skills you can fire in less than 4 second cycles with T2 heavy missile launchers, and you can target and hit beyond 100km.

Yes, but a Tengu with T2 HMLs outperforms your T1 Raven.
EM T2 Fury ammo on a Tengu provides more DPS than a Raven that's using EM T1 ammo and named launchers.
A Tengu with the Dissolution Sequencer module has a 110+km targeting range, and the Accelerated Ejection Bay gives HMLs a 100+ km range, so range isn't a limiting factor.

I always found a T2 fit Raven had 'enough' tank to L4. Which to my mind, means the Navy Scorp is therefore overtanked - unless you've a good use for 2-3 midslots - which is useful, for painting etc.
So I'd say Tengu. Not that I've missioned in one - I gave up missioning before they were introduced, but I've done a fair ol' bit in Nighthawk/Drake. Both are fine, with the Drake a bit DPS light, so I'd say the Tengu should be just fine.

For level 4 missions, Navy Raven > Navy Scorpion.
Navy Scorpion is just a Raven with a lot more tank. A Navy Raven is a Raven with more tank and DPS.
I own a Raven, a Tengu (at least 9 actually), and a Navy Raven. I am training for a Golem.
So far I prefer the Tengu, though it isn't ideal for all missions (anything that is EM weak).

don't fly the tengu like a muppet, problem solved.
been running the same tengu for 9 active months total at least. Pimped fit it...that has been paid off for months as well. KNow how the mission works. can't handle full room aggro....don't spam all the triggers at once. If missions has webbers....kill them first and with extreme prejudice. I always nuke the frigates from orbit first....jsut to be sure lol.
Death by player, a gank avoidance guide:
Step 1: do not park the tengu at the station with the mission agent. Park it at the other station where its you and the tumbleweeds in undock (damn near every system in eve has 2 stations at least....1 thats has people and the other empty as hell). Adds all of a minute to swtich over to a frigate/shuttle/etc to hop from tengu's station to the mission agent station. Gankers watch mission stations...its their best bet to catch a tengu. Don't be there in a tengu, can't be watched.
Step 2: even though nerfed...shoot for unprobable anyway. Shoe horn an eccm or sensor backup array....both if you can. Really care, talons. Gets you gurista jam resistant a bit too. Harder to find. they'll go find that cnr or golem with a high signature and mess with them in their mission spaces.

Hi,
Tengu is the best ship for chain-runnin lvl4 missions.
Scorpion Navy Issue is damn-well near the best ship for running Sleepers.
Both very good at PvE, just depends what sort of PvE you mean...
