Hey there i had an idea for local in null and wormhole space. How about no one shows up in local untill there name is linked in chat. This would also show up the person that has linked them so you have to be sure u dont give yourself away. This could also be in constellation chat instead of local thus if some one is spotted in the constellation its easyer to show them up over a wider area. To combat people jumping in and out of the system when spotted it would put ur name in the list for 15min and anyone who jumped into the system for that time would be able to see that you were there.

Wormhole space is fine. No one shows up in local at all unless you actually chat in it... and if you chat in it you shouldn't be in the wormhole in the first place.
Null local, however, does indeed give away way too much free intel for no involvement whatsoever. Some call for the outright removal of local, others like myself could see some useful tweaks that would liven things up a bit.

i think local is fine in null, it would be a lot better if standings and corp icons didnt show up next to their name so you have to actually check if they're blue or not.

That's how it once was, and tbh it wasn't better. It just made for a lot of useless clicking. A local spike is always going to make you duck and cover, so realistically it would just mean having to click on everyone who passes through the system in ones and twos which isn't enough of a difference to make the change.
However, I do think that local should stay as it is in null. While I can understand why people want to fix it, mainly because they aren't the kind of people who make their money ratting in 0.0 and thus don't understand how much it would break with any major local changes.
I can see what you are trying to do here with the whole name linking thing so you have to go actually go and get intel, but there's too many easy ways to never ever be seen. To get a player name from a ship (Assuming he's not dumb and renames them) you have to be on grid and uncloaked long enough to type it out. That's just not how things go down.
People have said it in plenty of other places, and I'll reiterate it here: A change to anything other than immediate all members showing local would make making a living as a regular joe in 0.0 just incredibly miserable. For the foot soldiers of most alliances, significantly cutting down on their ability to make reasonably safe money ratting would break 0.0. The need for scouts means the unimpressive money you can make drops even further and since scouts can only ever do so much (unless you have a LOT of them with memories big enough to remember every player name, corp and ship type and co-ordinate that information between them) in terms of generating intel ratting outside of heavily populated systems just won't happen.
0.0 is tough enough to live in as it is. Anytime you undock you have the possibility of getting heartlessly ganked. If it gets even harder, people just won't bother, and will make their money running missions instead, because its simply not worth the risk.
