Benny Ohu wrote:Pipa Porto wrote:(like the hilarious ban for blocked biomassing suggestion), Pipa. There was no such suggestion. A guy said there might be too much alt recycling. You linked a post by a GM that stated excessive recycling of alts was disallowed, and then gave a general guideline that avoiding game mechanics using alt recycling was also not allowed. You draw a specific conclusion ("only for sec status") based on the general guideline, ignoring the first part. You then created the idea someone had suggested 'banning people who biomass characters on block lists' and begin to argue against it despite the suggestion never having existed.
TharOkha wrote:Well they are avoiding blocks. after week or so (when 9/10 ppl in jita have them blocked) they just recycle.... I think that this is an expolit.
Avoiding Blocks is (or should be) an Exploit according to this guy. What happens to people who exploit exploits? They get banned. Tah Dah.
And I drew that specific conclusion because that is the only instance I know of where people actually get in any trouble whatsoever for biomassing characters. And before that post slightly generalized the rule, the rule as generally understood was that biomassing alts to escape the consequences of Sec hits was bad, while biomassing alts for other reasons was fine. Sorry but your answer sound like - alow bots to exist in EvE universe, they got more rights than ordinary players who are against botting.
Of course we can avoid them by this way, but this is bad direction, CCP should pay more atention to them because players cant do anything against bots in trade hubs, even kamikaze atempt like in asteroid belts against miners bots.
Because of this madnes in jita and other trade hubs, meny people got bad results while trading etc, because people hate these place, and almost all people avoid local and solars system it self, in fact 80% people in Jita are afk and a lot of them are bots, while local should be free form spam bots, not free form ordinaly scammers who online, but free forn true bot spam scammers. |

Chribba wrote:Pipa Porto wrote:I see Chribba's post as evidence that that particular spammer is not a bot, as I would assume he's been investigated and cleared if he's been able to keep posting. I would like to see, a real pilot post the same message for hours and hour every single day without messing up the posting timer. Saying that the evidence is that he is not banned is just stupid. So all mining/courier/mission bots that runs around, are not bots because they haven't been banned yet? So he's no bot until the time he's banned, then he's a bot? Wasn't it a bot all along then? Sure a regular pilot CAN be very exact in posting timers, but really not for an extensive period of time, it just won't happen, and certainly NOT when it comes to spamming a scam contract - because why in the world would you even need to post so exact if you are there posting by yourself? Only reason a pilot would spam with such exact posting timers is because it's a macro/bot posting it (yes speculations, but give me a better reason why a real pilot would post exactly every 20s for hours and hours). tbh I just don't think CCP really cares about spam bots, or maybe even don't have any tools that logs spam like that. So we report someone as a bot, they check his "activity" and find he's not undocking/docking/warping on regular intervals (since he's in station spamming) and closes the case deeming it's not a bot since there's no activity. That's what I think. If I can get data like this and do analysis on a basic level "assuming" it's a bot based upon the posting timers, I am pretty sure CCP could very easily do that - but like I said, my guess is they don't have any such tools. /c
I have repeatedly contacted CCP about the issue of the spam bots ruining jita local for those of us who spend a lot of time there. The only responses you will get are from GM's that will tell you to file an harrasment petition which will then be manually looked into by a GM and appropriate action taken.
I don't have to tell you what a waste of time that is when we're talking about recyclable alts on throw-away accounts.
It sure does look like the business case, and therefore, the priority was to shut down RMT operations and as a side effect they produced tools that can be used to ferret out some of the other botters but if it's a case of spam/courier/whatever bots there's nothing to be gained in expending the resources in stamping it out.
Oh, and market bots aren't dead either.

What's the difference? What's the magic number that divides the two?
Besides that, what evidence do you have that suggests that non-bots* are recycling their characters?

Yeah, 'cause that ******* helps... NOT.
I talk to Chribba almost every time I log in about that ****, and he always says that he spends hours reporting those idiots in Jita and Amarr, and guess what, they are still there MONTHS later.
There are certain scammers and spammers that I've recognised in Amarr and Jita from 2-3 years ago, like Spaceship Barbie.
CCP just doesn't give a ****...
Why they don't do what all other respectable MMOs do is beyond me, limit local chat to max 2-3-4 messages every 10-20-30 seconds and increase that timer more and more as you spam, eventually leading to you being blocked from talking in public channels like local after enough people have reported you for botting/spamming.
Instead of adding more shiny **** for all the newbies and incoming console tards from Dust, they should try to make the game better for the veterans that have had to put up with this bullshit for the past 9 years and are ******* sick of it. Inappropriate signature, CCP Phantom. |

EvE is old game, here is hope in new players who enter game, and CCP realise this... While in every game is tendency to drop numbers of old players depend factor of play lenght.
Its natural, longer people play more bored they are, but the spad part is, if devs do nothing to improve game for old players faster they lose them.
EvE is only one game in world who hold in game (average) very long old playes, but i have to agree with you, would be cool if Devs focus more on old players and EvE game content than on shiny things, just because here a lot things to discovery by new players even without expansions and new shiny thing here tons of stuf to study for them , while old players need somthing fresh. |

I go to Jita a couple of times a week. While there for an hour or so I add at least 10 bot spammers to my block list - right after I bot report them. I have over 2K blocks on my list, so the bot's have plenty of opportunity to stand out. As several others have noted in Jita local - you block 10 to 20 people in Jita right off the bat and things get sociable since you can actually hold a conversation with others.
From naming conventions I have observed, recycling is going on.
We'll never know if CCP has been doing anything or not. They refuse to name and shame. So - we might be doing some good reporting suspected bots, but we'll never know. Make me wonder all the time if I'm simply wasting my time. Certainly feel like CCP is. |

How do you know this if you're not 24/7 logged into Jita recording them with your automated logging software?
Note: This is not to say they are not botting - they may very well be and they are why my block list is a mile long - but I am curious how you know they're there 24/7.
Edit: Lulz. Just got to page 4 and saw Chribba's link. Awesome. Somebody did go and do it. EVE Ambulation and Avatars as a separate game - see here |

I dont need to be in jita 24/7 to see boting behaviour, all what i need is like login to my price cheker alt in jita after DT and at night or any time when i need it, to chek stuf and prepare trade orders if need, your question and logic make me ... however, as you notice Chribba do great job and experiments, and he post own results in own orginal therad, boting is real, and we or CCP should do somthing about this... Or just adapt to living with them, if there nothing changes... |
