CCP has managed to create one of the oldest, best, and most not dead MMO around right now. They treat us, the players good, but all I ever see are threads about how ccp sucks or eve is dying or omg i can't fly caps on day 1 or whatever the fork. So, the question here is, do we appreciate and love what ccp provides for us, as well as the people who provide it? I sure as hell do. Love my Gallente Federation Navy ships! |

I don't think of CCP so much as one entity but a collection of forces. Their stockholders and upper management are generally at odds with the players. The developers work their a**es off for the players. The GMs just try to do their job fairly. Mixed motivations and objectives by the varying forces within CCP results in the mixed reception they generally get from the player base.

CCP used to get alot of praise. Their fans voted eve the greatest MMO/Game/thing umpteen times and were like a crazy little cult telling other gamers how much better ccp were than all those other terrible developers. Then CCP went a bit crazy with "greed is good" and got everyone mad, so now everything they do is tainted as even though they have done alot to redress what went on their fanbois still rememeber, those that didn't leave the game entirely. |

I think CCP does a good job. I feel for a sandbox game they are listen to player concerns. I mean they have freaking player council they listen too. Name another MMO that! and yes Eve players are a cult. A narrow mind is a focused mind. |

CCP prefers to call it "tribute" "A genius throws a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that he's going to die choking in a maze of smoke and flame. A hero drinks a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that if he does a split in midair, he can hit twice as many zombies per kick. Drunk hero wins again, wusses." ~Cracked.com |

This. But *almost*? I would think money in the bank would the primary praise, everything else is gravy

Personally speaking, the folks I know at CCP are the most hard-working and dedicated bunch of people that you could ever work with.
I don't think they get enough praise, but then again as a moderator, I tend to only see a specific dynamic of the community at large.
I know I'm just a volunteer for CCP, but when my daughter was born I got a signed card from head office; a site more then I got from the real-life job I had at the time. ISD Suvetar Captain Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) Interstellar Services Department |

Yes, but by the time the sub fees trickle down to the hardworking peons, the player praise may not be as obvious.
Do we need to have a CCP Appreciation in-game event? Everyone jet cans spiced wine, spirits, quafe, and strippers around the Jita memorial?

I would say they get praise, and a lot of critique, and the company survives both.
The best way to support a product you like is with your money. In fact, the economic weapon is the most formidable on earth. You can topple even the Umbrella corp if they had no money incoming.
It's so bad, this weapon, that corporations in the real world buy out governments left and right to keep the desk stacked in their favor and protect them from people who vote 'with their wallet'.
So if there is on bill each month I never minded, it's the sub.
Back in the 90s, as an academic endeavor I attempted to write a system of online space ships using Java and RPC. There was no 3D Java then and 586 computers - so it was slow. Did it work? Hardly. So seeing this game working as well as it does is a marvel on its own. How they pulled it off and keep it working is a mystery and I know how these things work. This is why when people are nerd-raging over lag, or griping over a lack of "twitch control" over their ships, or crying over lack of content, I can tell them that they simply have no idea how difficult it is to actually make this stuff work. That you can get any large plurality of ships in a system functioning at all - and trying to blow each other up - is amazing. You also have here a legacy system, and while it's easy to go to the forums and say what should be, making it so is not as easy as a post. And that's not just this game system, ANY computer system is like that.
(the database updates alone, trying to script that, for a system this big, would make your hair fall out and maybe even stunt your growth)

That's more than can be said for every other MMO I've tried. Eve remains the best, and the only MMO that I still have any faith in.

I think those jackets actually sell pretty cheap on market. I got some new boots yesterday with a bit of leftover Aur I had, and I rather like this shirt. Maybe I was actually sleeping in front of my computer and dreamed I posted. Certainly, it's not there now. |

I also have praise for CCP in a few things;
- Single Shard persistant universe; personally the biggest thing that got me into the game
- Sandbox style player generated content; What keeps me subbed
- Innovation into the Dust-Eve link; What I look forward to
- An attitude to always try to improve the game that they love; even though sometimes they don't improve it (incarna), they have made long strides to turn away from that... and in my eyes have succeeded. Thanks CCP Fozzie! MMOs come and go, but Eve remains.-á -Garresh- |

I have asked CCP many questions directly and politely many times about their game wit this toon. All I get is shitpoasting brown noser fanbois telling me I am a troll. I have spent thousands and thousands of other peoples dollars on this game so one response in 4 years would not be asking too much.
So I tried an experiment. I copied a CIpher Jones' post verbatim on a female alt. Got a dev response first try. So praising them verbally on the forums is a waste of time IMHO. They hear what they want like the average Joe.
If you want to praise them buy a monocle, power of two promo, or extra PLEX.

It may be a cliche, but haters gotta hate. You see it on all game forums. Actually, on all forums.
People like to vent. Satisfied players are too busy playing the game to post diatribes on forums.
I worry sometimes that CCP might take forums posters too seriously; because there are some stupidly dumb ideas posted here sometimes.

I do as well, but not everything is as shiny as you make it to appear. I play EVE because its least broken of the MMOs out there, not because its good, or provides me with the entertainment I want. Or better to say, I dont play EVE, but I pay for my accounts to train my characters, mostly.
What other MMOs we have, that arent terrible WoW cargo cult copies that will make developers go bankrupt, or instead of that, low-budget Far Eastern grinders? None. And new MMO games that are about to appear are also very far away from what I think ideal MMO should be.
Not only in CCP, in other companies too, like Blizzard, or Bioware, developers and artists do their maximum, but its flawed design that reins in what their games could be. |
