i think that it's a silly idea that bombs are not allowed in lowsec. they would probably get used more if they were allowed. i was looking for something on this and found an archived forum discussion from 08 about bomb fixes, but i have no idea whether it was acted on or not. thoughts? |

Puzzled: why should that happen?
Statement: gate camps in low sec are already worse than in null-sec.
Concerned: Enabling mighty AOE wepons for campers would seriously **** off even more people entering low |

What, you mean like the smartbomb camps on all the important hisec-lowsec shortcut gates? |

Bombers are much more maneuverable, faster and you can't see them until they decloak to attack. |

i was thinking more along the lines of busting up blobs that gatecamp. a stealth bomber would be able to warp in, stay cloaked and then drop a bomb once they were far enough away |

Said bombs would also cause you to become -10.0 VERY fast from hitting the gat,e station, etc. |

I hate smart bombs. I was flying through null the other day and a smartbomb equipped rohk was randomly spewing bombs out and I blew up in my lil rifter before I even landed on grid. When I landed, I was in my pod. Nothing's better than having your ship go boom while still warping! |

let it be known, i'm not talking about smartbombs... which anyone can arm and obviously people have, im saying let stealth bombers be able to use bombs, not smartbombs, just normal bombs such as a concussion bomb in lowsec as obviously anyone else can arm smartbombs and since stealth bombers were designed for the purpose of launching bombs, which no other ship can use, to be used in lowsec space because it seems to me that bombs and bomb launchers are only usable in nullsec at the moment for some strange reason so that people who train their skills to use stealth bombers can actually use their bomb launching ability before having to find a zero security system. |

To follow that logic I have changed some words in your quote:

Wa'roun you may have a point as well, i don't know much about interdictors as i haven't used them. but i want to know what you think about bomb launchers being allowed in low sec. |

I was making the point that if you allow one thing then you will have to allow all.

just for the record: Stealthbombers were not designed to use bombs. They were designed to shoot cruise missiles. and could not use Covert Ops cloaking ... so they had to warp uncloaked.
someday ccp saw the flaw in this design and changed it into the SB we know today. and then came the bomb ... the only way to prevent griefplay with the use of bombs in empire space was to prohibit their use. and that was the right decision.
empirespace differs to much to 0.0 spce that you kan never allow bombs or nontargeted interdiction there.
perhaps you can only think of the cool reasons how to use bombs... but professional griefers will think of so many other ways. |

i'm not sure if i'm for or against, but allowing bombs in low-sec would certainly make people think twice about camping a gate
but the tempting part of null-sec is the 'no rules' mindset. if you really want to use bombs, go to EC-P8R and start firing them off. |

ok, im beginning to understand. if bombs were allowed in low sec it would make it more like nullsec, which ccp didn't want. low sec is more limited to make a move from highsec to null more gradual.. |

How come if you allow bombs you will have to allow everything? It seems like a legitimate way to break up a gate camp in low sec.
I don't see the correlation of allowing bombs and the warp bubbles.
Also, I'm new to the game so I have never seen a sphere, but I believe that it is for stopping people from using warp drive. I only know what a bomb is because it was explained to me in the help channel.
What other things are allowed only in 0 security that are not allowed in low security?
If there is a list of say 25 things then I don't see why allowing bombs means that 24 other things *must* be allowed.
Again, I'm fairly new to the game so please explain why all things must be allowed in low security space if bombs are allowed.

I think its a mistake to think of there being some sort of PVP incline from High Sec -> Low Sec -> 0.0. People in low sec are not "getting their feet wet" with PVP - many of the permanent denizens are disillusioned 0.0 vets with strong killboard histories in major sov 0.0 alliances. I'd even go so far as to say that High sec, Low sec, NPC 0.0, Sov 0.0, and WH space all cater to different (legitimate) play styles.
For instance, you don't go to sov 0.0 if you're looking for small gang action - you go to low sec or wormholes. I'd say that anyone trying to bring a mechanic from one "play area" into another will be met with resistance. For instance, you suggest bringing bombs (or bubbles!) to low sec, but a high sec miner might suggest bringing concord to 0.0 - probably as a station or sov addition. (And yes, I've seen that honestly suggested).
