While I know some people are going to ***** and moan, both about the changes and the added half hour + downtime to fix the new highway...
let me just add my voice to the roaring crowd of fans of this patch.
do you have any idea how much more fun EVE is for me and many other people now?
I now play the game, hear the music shoot at a NPC pirate and actually feel this is finaly becoming the game I was REALLLY hoping for.
I need to think about what I'm going to fight, you can't simply unload all your guns on an enemy and hope to get away with it anymore, you need to use some actual tactics now. Granted they arn't advanced tactics, but it sure beats just picking the best gun in the game (AHEM 425MM scout AHEM BS GUN!!!) and stacking 4 or 5 of em on your ship with a few lateral gyros and a bugged skill or two (AHEM surgical strike AHEM CoUGH).
And you factory slot/lab slot hoarders will be getting yours too. No more hoarding of slots for high profit... No more selling them on the trade channel. I saw you running like rats from a sinking ship a few days before the patch went live. You started selling them as fast as you could because you knew damn well people could buy em for free after this patch...
Care bears got a kick in the nuts too... Not a hard one, just one that says: Hey no more level treadmilling when it comes to ship classes... Now if a cruiser pilot is too stupid to know they need to mount some fast tracking turrets on thier ship they will die and slow horrible death while the frigates that managed to get close enough whittle them down to size.
No this doesn't mean one frigate can do it realistically, nor does it mean medium guns are ineffective against cruisers. but it DOES mean if your packing a mid/long range arty gun for example with a turret tracking speed of about .9 or lower, you WILLL miss just about EVERY shot if the frigate gets within 2 or 3 KM from you and starts orbitting you.
So face it ladies and gentleman, the ships can NOW be properly balanced. MORE people will mount a mixture of ordinance on thier cruisers, especialy those who are solo... A maller captin would be a fool if they plan on going solo, and decide not to mount at least one or two frigate class turrets on his or her ship. They will either need to be really lucky or be able to MWD/AB back to thier Ideal range or shoot targets that arn't moving...
Trust me people this change makes a BIG difference. I had a friend test it today because they didn't beleive how different it is now. Heheheh, the proof is in the pudding.
From what I hear damages make more sense now, and ranges sound more or less fair. -50% for both Antimatter and EMPS the way it should have been from the start...
Now I know some people will ***** and moan about this patch, some people always do...
But the only people I can think of who will HATE this patch are those of you who abused the factory/lab slot situation in EVE, or abused the surgical strike bug, and the imabalnce between the 425MM Scout and every other gun in the game...
Get used to it folks... This game has taken a BIG boost in the arm from this patch and I swear, even though I STILL crash a bit too much for my tastes, I'm nothing but smiles! and so are most of the people I know.
Lastly I swear if enough whiners come along and SPOIL the GOOd things done in this patch (after all some bad things might have gotten through, some tweaks WILL need to happen, so I don't mean people shouldn't speak up about broken bits.), I will come to thier houses and pee on thier rugs...
This game just took a major turn for the better. If you can't see it, then well... too bad. We did it your way and it sucked, now lets try it OUR way!

Ok so a few things need fixing, you can't really expect anything else with a big patch (sorry to all the moaners who saye "umm we expect it to be perfect..we pay for this").
Combat actually works now, you need to think about your loadout, your ammo, your mods etc etc.
I think we just moved from FPS game to tactical space sim, when it comes to combat.
Wooohoooo, this is more what I was looking for when I bought the game :)

Lester, you saying you can't warp to a roid belt atm?
I don't understand what the problem is. Bookmarks aren't working, so you can't warp right on top of the roid you want?
I assume you can still warp to a roid belt and make your way to the roid?

been mining since the patch, stoped for the second 'patch' and started again after seems to work well for me.
Ok, not mining in a 0.0 system or even a 0.1, normaly would not solo in there before the patch. but all looks fine here so what am i doing wrong?

Lester here is a tip for you...
Instead of mining in your indy, or with a solo cruiser all your own... try forming a GROUP! yes thats right a GROUP, not even a corp, just get two or three people to help you. one or two of you stand gaurd the ither Mines.
My corp does it ALLL the time before this patch and I promise you we will after.
Will The rare ores be harder toget now?

The market is oversaturated with cruisers and things right now anyway. Will I feel the pinch? you bet, I just got a Thorax BP Copy of my own finaly at long last. but I might have a hard time making my first one if I can't find a good source of Mega and zyd. But you know what?
I'm doing it solo, it SHOULD be hard for me!
so seriously man, go get a damn group, and give it a try. have you even BeeN out there since the patch? I know people who are out there, murdering pirates SOLO EVEN NOW, you know what they said?

And for your information my Xecl mining lasers and havester drones worked just fine after the patch, as did my bookmarks...
Does the game show a need for a bit more of the rare ores? Maybe... I can admit thats possible.
But this patch was all gold so far. and Like I have said countless times before, tweaking/patching/balancing is never finished in a game like this.
you have to takre the good with the bad.
Maybe think of it like in Role playing terms to get you through the temporary problems?
Anyway I agree with everyone else here so far... I just don't see what your problem is.

LOL M3g4 man, I don't mind at all I'll either have plenty of frigate turrets and anti frigate toys to give you a tough fight (so long as you don't can spam me or somehting) on me when I'm solo, or be escorted by half a dozen or more frigates of my own, not to mention my loyal army of drones :)
Heck you know what I was considering? playing one of my alts to a good level of frigate capability, put him in my tristan, and start looking for a group of pirates interested in hunting some cruisers hehehhe.

I'm not sure if I'm a "carebear" or not (I'm more partial to smurfs), but I do use this tactic myself when covering other miners from my cruiser.
And unlike some people who fear challenges, I say, Good. I knew my tactic of 2 medium guns, 2 miners was a cheap way to get around frig-pirates attacking my n00b buddy miners while still making minerals for my group.
For those who feel cheated, I should point out that you knew damn well you were buying imbalanced weapons when you paid for them. Anyone paying millions for a weapon should realize that something is imbalanced when they clicked on 'buy'. Anyone who brags and postures because of an obvious bug, then complains when that bug is fixed, is beneath contempt.
A toast to fixes and nerfs. May they continue to help balance a game that sorely needs it, while making the moans of exploiters flow like sweet wine.

I probably am just gana load up on medium guns because you can take a frigate out at long range before it even becomes a problem to hit, but my as well just have something incase.

It has always puzzled me that people had the idea that battleships would be able to dominate whole areas against any sort of encounters solo. Tactically speaking 6 bomber attack frigates should be able to take on a lone battleship and win (that being the battleship doesnĘt run away or is not loaded with small turrets or medium fast track turrets which in turn would make the battleship not as effective taking out cruisers, sentry guns and other battleships). I imagine that most solo players are going to go after cruisers as they offer a nice balance between speed, power and armor. Corporations being more diversified I have always envisioned true battle groups with several frigate wings 4 to 6 cruisers and 1 to 2 battleships (actual numbers veering depending on the need and resources available to the corporation). Having the cruisers engage in electronic warfare from target jamming to warp jamming as well as protecting themselves and the battleships from attacking frigates and drones. Another scenario and one we often find ourselves using is using frigates as forward recon for convoys. That way if they run into a lag trap or a blockade we only lose a cheap frigate, letĘs say Atron valued at 45k isk instead of a MOA valued at 9 Million ISK. These scenarios are just samples used in my questioning the treadmill mentality of going after the bigger more costly ship when it seems unpractical.

the guy talking about mining is talking about mining with bookmarks. and with pnp broken, you can't mine as fast.

Jettisoning of Cargo container will take 10years 300 days 24hours 50minutes and 10 seconds please give up on corp mining everyone is beeing punished for m0o cargo container exploit becuase we didnt feel letting everyone only having one jettisoned container would be fair on m0o.

I would like to put in my thanks to the Dev's for helping out making the game playable for just about everyone, and I like the news that people want to jump into frigates again and outswarm larger spacecraft...Maybe my sales might go up in that Ship-Class.
Good point from somebody...you had to know those expensive guns were going to get balanced (not nerfed). And if you think you lost money because of the patch with those weaps, you need to stop buying and get good enough to acquire your own weapons....ya lazy bums. Hehe.

Game is now far more interesting. Previously I used to just fire away at all npc pirates using my combat hoarder. Long range or short range, they all died quickly.
Now I have to think of the weapon to fit, the ammo to use, the modules to fit - and when to run.
Suddenly the game is far more interesting - and needing more tactics (not tik-taks).
Back to using a probe to hit pirates - and multiple weapons.
A big thank you to CCP for correcting the weapons to make a far more enjoyable game.

I only ever had one factory unit and one research unit and I used them both. So how does this make me a abuser of unit slots?
I want a roll back to get my factory and research units back.
I had paid 80k on rent today for them and now I don't have them. This part of the patch sucks and those of you who have factory slots from the missfortune of those that lost them, and are laughing. I truley hope one day you grow up.
The rest of the patch is good news finaly the fast frigates have a use vs the bigger ships.

The people I laugh at at least are the jerks who would buy ten at a time, then sell em on the trade channel. Or didn't realise they had to sell them at the last minute.
The people I feel bad for are people who fell for some of the last minute selling of lab slots that happened all week.
I saw some guy oin the trade channel selling justover a dozen factory slots for I think something like 2 million for all of them. Today the poor slobs will log on and find thier slots missing...
Rollback?
I dunno about that. you want a rollback for your 80K.... most other people will NOT want a rollback, in fact rollbacks are RARELY a good idea, and when they happen 90% of the people are ticked.
As for your 80K I can't offer you much advice, except that if it was caused by a BUG you give Polaris a try and see if you can get it back. You probably won't get anything of course, but it's worth a shot.

Yeah, the balance is great but the patch is unfortunately corrupted by a few game-breaking bugs (including one that deletes BP's...). Check out patch review (btw, shouldn't this post be there instead of here?).
Also, in response to the guy who was talking about group mining - you now have 5 minutes to wait each time you jettison. That's what I call a "CCP Bug," something they purposely put in the game to bother us. It certainly doesn't fix the pirate exploit.

Ok I submit that if the people are really having all these problems with factories and labs, and cans (oh my!), then I can admit some fixes (emergency style) need to happen ASAP.
Makes me wonder if MAYBE they should have implemented the CTD fixes, and combat changes in one patch and these factory ETC thingies another?
