I remember a devblog that said mines will be re-introduced, but this time they will be for the win. Not heard or seen anything since... ------------

Mines are a fine idea, in theory.
In practice in Eve, they only caused lag, and as such were popular FOR causing lag, just like drones were.
I hope they bring them back in a non-lag causing form so that people do not take unfair advantage of them.

Ha, i still get them as agent rewards. What happens if you try to load/launch them in space?

To me it would make sence that they relaunch to fill an area.
Instead of say showing 10x mines in an area they can represent it with 1 object (a mine field)...if you enter this field you take X much damage. The the mine field is deactivated until its redeployed.

Should they implement them. I came up with few Ideas towards their implementation.
1. I asume any objects that players anchor to space cause lag. So Mines should be made very expensive tactical weapon. 2. there should be a special skill for them. 3. many different types of mines (very expensive cloaking mines ? ) built from morphite & zydrine anyone ? 4. BPO*s from R&D agent's

Actualy we used mines to great success inthe first week or so on GNW fortifying BKG fromhostile NORAD/FU/COD fleets onmultipl times we wiped out nearly all there frig tackllers before they arrived we placed em at stratigic points through a few surrounding systems and BKG its self. ----------------------------------------------

I would like to see them come back. I would also like to see different sized mines. Small for frigates, Mediums for cruisers, and large ones for battleships.

You "yea bring mines back" ppl should have tried gang warping with a 30 ppl gang to the hlw gate in vol-mi back in the day when ATUK used to fuken mine the sh*t out of it.

I don't think it'd be that bad surely... I mean, if you want a deployable lag bubble you could use containers, but nobody really does. Perhaps make them large in m3, and only enable one to launch every two minytes or something. ------------

Edited by: Glarion Garnier on 23/03/2005 18:26:44 LEt's trust CCP's know how to make the desicion .. They know their's codes limitations best. Offcourse it would be nice addition to the game but to be straight I think on the lines that there is more important features. Like I rather see Titan's implemented than mines.

Hmm. The mine field idea isn't bad.
When you jettison mines, it creates a thumping big object in space, just like a dust cloud (different cloud type though) called "Minefield". Jettisonning further mines into the area either increases its size and/or intensity.
When someone enters the cloud, they take hits, and each hit reduces the size/intensity of the field.
The advantage here is that if someone jets zillions of mines, you still only get one object floating in space, but still get the benefit of a stronger field.
