And that's why I'm glad when issues do rise up, it's not just from the regular forum posters helping CCP make development decisions. Now if this were a year or two ago when WiS was an issue that everyone knew about, and a majority of players rang in with their opinions and concerns, well that's just more true to life.
*posts in yet another WiS debate that most are dead tired of and don't care even to read/post. Statistics of this thread mean nothing. |

What is this CQ you speak of ?
I like chocolate and vanilla but my favourite is a Quafe slushy. They only serve those in the Planet Cafe around the corner from my quarters. At least they have Erotic Dancers, but there's always a bunch of Caldari Militants hanging around as well. My mates and I have a good game of poker when we get together in my quarters. I often go out to the Security Office at the station to see if I can find a task to do, such as finding a pack of wild slavering dogs somewhere in the station. The rewards are reasonable and keeps food on my plate (or paste in my tube when I'm in my pod). One of the best things at the station is the fleamarket run by other pilots. It's good to stretch my legs when I walk around to all the vendors, look at their wares and have a chat.
But none of the above is possible yet, WiS is all smoke and mirrors at the moment. The universe is an ancient desert, a vast wasteland with only occasional habitable planets as oases. We Fremen, comfortable with deserts, shall now venture into another. - STILGAR, From the Sietch to the Stars. |

I believe that at this time SS is the way to go and is the core of Eve.
but,
I also believe that WiS (or things alike) is the future of MMOs, not just Eve, not just some simple CQ or avatars. But a real deep virtual world where people can interact, go from station to station, ship to ship, planets, etc. Perhaps not now, but maybe in 5? 10? years, who knows. Eve is very fortunate to have them in place where the devs can further expand the possibilities. I support WiS on condition it leads to something more integrated then just a cabin you alone walk in. Hopefully Dust release will see something more meaningful integrated. |

So far I count a 2-1 ratio in favour of CQ/WiS. With just as many people saying they use both or neither as their are ship spinners. Yeah right? this thread is da proooooof! CCP turn this ship around and go full barbie! Huh? When was the last time barbie went to a sleazy bar, bought drugs, gambled, and watched exotic dancers? http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

So far it seems to be ~60-70 % SS, ~25% CQ and the rest are all in space somewhere... It also looks like the most common reason for SS is not the disliking of CQ but the inability of the user's computer to properly run CQ without melting.
I don't run CQ for 2 reasons.
1- My PC is older, has a new graphics card but old CPU/RAM and i stare at the Loading screen for about 5 minutes. 2- WiS is pointless unless you are in a community area with other people. There is no functionality advantage to using CQ......yet.

Because your results conflicted with what I thought I saw, I thought I would recount and add some clarity to how I worked it out. If your counting what people use I tallied up what people said they used, if they said nothing, or said they only used a POS I made no tally, if they said they used both I added one to each side. I created an extra section to tally up those who said they used ship spinning but said that was only do to increased load. Here are the results I got. I accounted for the same people posting twice, of course.
22 counts of WiS, and 24 of SS. Of the 24 who said SS, 10 expressed that they only used SS because they couldn't run CQ.
So, if you were adding up who was in favour of one rather than the other, you could count those 10 from the 24 SSers as being in favour of CQ. Which would make 32 people in favour of WiS environments and 14 who either were not in favour or just simply liked SS more. (If you want to debunk that last sentence, many of the people I tallied under the unable to run CQ section openly expressed support for WiS.)
Even if you account for data collection bias, I'd say that was pretty significant. Sorry to do the whole science/stats thing, but it really is the only way to determine the truth. That's why we have science after all (Science FTW!). |

SS for lack of decent comp. But once that happens I guess I would be half 'n half. CQ looks cool and the immersion is awesome it's just that there isn't anything different to do.
Edit: Okay maybe I'll swing more for CQ if I get a better comp. My excuse is to stand on a balcony all day watching my giant ship spin itself :D The Drake is a Lie |

Ship spinning.
CQ still taxes my computer and offers no additional functionality to compensate for it.
Plus... ship are just cooler than this husk of meat I call a body! Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

I really like the avatar stuff for EVE and an looking forward to seeing it expanded. Just a sham there isn't any new stuff on the TV, and all the "breaking news" is months old now.
