Hello, I have a few quick questions about level 3 security missions, can I run those in a caracal or should I be using a drake or something? I'm trying to get my level four research agents for the lai Dai corp, and I just want to be sure I'm not using the wrong ship class. And how bad will the sec status loss be? Should I just do distribution missions? That sounds sorta boring. Could I do sec missions and then like FW stuff? |

For Level 3 missions it's typically recommend to use a Battle cruiser class ship or a Heavy Assault Cruiser. Alternatively you could use an Assault Frigate, Battleship, Command Ship or a Recon too.
As for doing security missions + FW sure you can do that. But note when you enter faction warfare you also enter a war with the 2 opposite factions so others might come in and attempt to kill you.
Leave you with this guide as well.

With very few exceptions, your cruiser will die horribly in level 3s. A Battlecruiser is best.
You will never lose Security Status doing missions for Empire Factions (Amarr, Gallente, etc). You CAN lose Faction Standing by doing mission against other Factions (Caldari Navy mission against Gallente for example). Most people do such a mission against an Empire Faction once to see what it is and then never again. Note that you always want to do the storyline missions, even if they are against an Empire Faction. The same thing applies to the Pirate Factions of course so if you plan to do mission for them in the future you don't want to do mission against them for the Empire Factions. I think you can lose Security Status by doing missions against Concord for the Pirate Factions but I've never done any.
Faction War is an entirely different system and you can pretty much be assured that you will ruin your standing with your opposing faction over time. This can be fixed but it is a lot of work. If you never do missions for the opposing faction it is no problem to have low standing with them.

There is an exception to Luis' last point, if your standing with an empire faction drops bellow -4.0 then you will be considered an enemy of theirs if this happens then you will be a valid target for other players while in that factions territory, and should someone engage you that faction will also send a few npc navy ships to assist in your demise |

If you are afraid to be interrupted during your mission, using an AF would allow you to escape more easily. It's a bit slower than with a BC but it's fun ! |

Edit: Ah FW, never mind then, the -5 kos is for the navy factions to start shooting you. "Music is a mysterious thing. Sometimes itn++ makes people remember things they do not expect. Lai Dai also has a partner security corporation.
You can run missions for them as well. Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.comI Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers. |

If you're a noob, SP-wise or player knowledge wise, then no you should not try running level 3 security missions in a Caracal. It's underpowered for them. The "standard" is a Drake. Your Caracal may be able to survive if you speed tank a lot, but your damage output (damage-per-second) will be too low.
A T2 Caracal, the Cerberus, or the Navy Issue Caracal, might work for you. I've had a very easy time running level 3 missions in a Ceberus recently, but I'm not a noob, at least not in terms of SP. A Drake is just better, for a low SP pilot.
Distribution missions are very boring, but you can do them semi-AFK. I find mining missions nicer, because they're faster, or at least don't seem so slow to me, and I never get sent out of the system my agent is in, so I never have to reject missions (whereas security missions will often send you 3 or 4, sometimes 5, hops away, and sometimes that means visiting or passing through low-sec). But you really need a Mining Barge to run level 3 mining missions, and some mining skillz, whereas level 3 distribution missions (and level 4 too) can be done in any industrial (I've yet to get a distribution mission that didn't involve breakbulk cargo).

You can run missions for them as well. Lai Dai Corporation is quite possible the worst corp to run mission for. Bad stations. Bad agents. No longer worth it now that datacore farming has been replaced by FW.
I've never missioned for Lai Dai Protection Services though. |

How do I pick a corp to run missions for? I'm not sure of what kind of criteria I should've been looking at.
I get that I need to look at the Lp store and where the agents are and all, and I know how to find where agents are, but what makes a good corp to run missions for? That's my real challenge. |

I get that I need to look at the Lp store and where the agents are and all, and I know how to find where agents are, but what makes a good corp to run missions for? That's my real challenge. Found this while doing more reading: Quote:You go to agents and they give you missions and you get ISK and Loyalty Points that you can buy in that Corporations loyalty point store for completing the missions. Industrial characters should ideally do their missions for one of the NPC corps that has Research Agents for your tech II production. Military PvP characters should run missions for the navy of the faction of the ship type they fly if they want faction modules that they can use themselves. No matter what player you are you are best off picking one corporation and running missions for them until you get at least an 8 standing for jump clones, and access to their locator agents, research agents if they have them, and all the other goodies. I'd still like some advice on picking good corps for mission though. And how to spot a good mission hub.
You can ignore the bit about jump clones, just get them for free from EACS. You can use EVE Agents to check out what research agents and corporation has. You can ignore most info you find as very much is outdated. For combat, you want to do security missions. A good agent is in highsec and is not connected to a lowsec system for 2 jumps. So that the agent will not send you into lowsec. Basic rule is, the bigger a corporation the more agents. The empire navies are huge, have good security agents, and are thus very popular. This will of course draw ninja salvagers and so on to the most popular mission systems but they are a minor annoyance really. Some corporations are spread over multiple empires which can be useful. A trade hub nearby is also handy. FIRE FRIENDSHIP TORPEDOES ! Louis's epic skill guide v1.1 |

Other things to look for: * System security - lower is better for rewards and bounties. * Stations with multiple security agents, especially of the same level. * Stations with security agents where the nearest storyline agent of the same faction is in the same corp (rare, so often I move to a less desirable agent to do mission #16, so I always get a storyline mission with the same corp). * You are less likely to be bothered by other players while missioning in systems in the middle of nowhere. * Systems further from lowsec, so the agents are less likely to send you there. |
