This bot/RMT mining problem is way out of hand. I propose that every time you fire your mining laser/strip miner, you should have to enter a CAPTCHA! Seriously, guys, this needs to stop! It's unfair! I work hard for that isk, hunting sleepers in wormholes, and some month-old character in a retriever is making more money than me? I demand there be changes, or else I will have Reese's for breakfast! |

CAPTCHA won't stop botters and will only annoy those who actually do mine. CAPTCHA is getting worse and worse to the point where only a computer could understand what they are. |

You're suggesting that Captcha, one of the most infuriating concepts ever devised on the internet, should be introduced into a game?
Games are meant to be an enjoyable experience. There's a direct conflict of interest here.
There are many other ways in which bots could be discriminated against. The real question is whether CCP is willing to introduce measures to do so. |

Absolutely! And while we're at it let's add 10 second timers any time you want to shoot someone in hi-sec. You hit your weapons, and a popup counts down 10 seconds before it fires. Also works on any aggressing modules like warp jammers.
(seriously, though. CAPTHAs? I need 3-5 tries for every one because I can't read the damn thing. If you're going to implement a time penalty on legitimate players, then add a time penalty on something you do. How about you need a captha to warp away from a station you just undocked from? That would certainly make things interesting!) |

Lvl 4 missions make more money, lets implement CAPTCHA on them And lets implement CAPTCHA on Logi pilots in 10/10 DED complexes also, since they can be bots, or basically afk once they get going. so every cycle of logi they have to do a CAPTCHA before they can Rep again......
Or..... yea, lets not.
That 1 month old character in a retriever will make about 5-7 Mil Isk an hour, assuming he's constantly at his keyboard. Since he also has to move his goods to market. Which takes time. Or sell to the region wide buy orders which are lower price. |

Step 1: Set up many 51 day trial accounts
Step 2: Train said accounts to fly retreivers
Step 3: Multibox them all to an asteroid belt (or ice belt if you are lazier)
Step 4: dock them all up half an hour later, receive ISKies
I often see multiple retreivers all flown by accounts with very similar names that aren't much over 10 days old... then 1 mack or Orca flown by a much older account near the cluster....
Its much easier to do with ice that doesn't deplete.
Why train into a mack when you can simply fly an additional retriever? |

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, this got fixed. You no longer get a plex for a buddy invite if the buddy extended the trial by using a plex. Only if they use real money.

How about instead of a CAPTCHA, we instead find a different way of targetting asteroids.
As it sits right now asteroids can be targetted on the overview. This makes bots very easy to establish because everything they need is positioned in easily located spots.
So, I think a quick and easy way to fix this is to not allow asteroids to be locked from the overview.
Instead, you either perform a scan and click to highlight the roid you want, or you click the roid in the overview to highlight it. Both of these methods put a box around the asteroid in space.
Now, in order to lock the roid you're then required to click your mining laser/s and then click the roid. This will make you target the roid and begin mining.
This is actually rather simple to establish, but complicated for a bot to accomplish because the roid is never in the same spot in open space. It may even be behind the camera.
Like I said, it's simple yet effective, and doesn't slow a live player down by much at all. Even when they're drunk... |

are there missioning bots? I don't know that I've ever seen one...
That said, in order for it to work out well against npc targets then CCP would have to revamp how the group popups work in space.
Cause when you look at a group of npcs and it expands, it normally doesn't work out that well.... |

And your idea would be very easy for bots. |

while still making it more difficult for real players. DON"T punish real players. I have a hard enough time clicking stuff in space, don't force me to do it more often.
The answer isn't making the process more difficult. That's like the music industry pushing DRM. There will always be a way around it. Computers are pretty powerful and programmers are pretty clever. They'll find a way around anything you come up with.
It's just a resources issue. CCP need to continue using personel and other resources to find and ban botters. |

Just have CCP flag botters as a "bot criminal suspect" so that everyone can freely shoot at them. Flag lasts 1 week for each occurence. Problem solved.
Even better: Put bounties (new version not old version of bounties) on botters so that people can not only kill them off, but get paid for it as well. |

Why not just ban the botters?
If your suggestion is to not ban people who act like bots but aren't, then you're punishing people for a playstyle the 'appears' to be from a bot.

My suggestion is for CCP to flag the botters as free kills so we can enjoy blowing them up with no repercussions. That way they might get a hint as to how much the player community does not like them. It would take CCP to flag them, not players.
"Bot Criminal suspect" is a flag based upon the new criminal flagging system CCP is putting in. By no means am I suggesting that we flag real players who act like bots, but are real players. Only ones CCP has confirmed as bots.
Banning works as well, but blowing them up so so much more fun. |

So instead of just banning them you want to draw out the process so that players can shoot the bots? I assume you'd also freeze assets so no trades can be made (otherwise the bots would have time to shed the soon-to-be-banned accounts of assets).
So now you have bots flying ships in space, still harvesting our finite resources, using up server time, just so we can shoot them?
Why not just ask CCP to put ships in space they label as bots to represent the banned botters? There isn't really a reason for what you want to do besides getting free kills. If you want free kills, just put "free loot" containers in noob systems. |
