Hi guys/gals
I've been playing Eve for about a month so far, and have been getting on with the game - learning skills, mining, NPC killing, trading and all that. I like to do agent missions, NPC rat hunting and no PVP at all.So far i'm as follows:
Gallente - Intaki
int 15 perc 8 char 16 will 11 mem 14
Analytical Mind - level 5 Empathy - level 4 Instant Recall - level 5 Iron Will - 4 Learning - 4 Spatial Awareness - 4
1.3m sp
3.3m isk
I've found that i prefer long range fighting - i love to use missles and the gallente seem to be intent on using hybrids (i currently use a celestis as it is the only afforable ship with 2 launchers).
After having a bid of a read through the character creation guides (why-oh-why didn't i check them before i made my character? ) and seen that the 2 most important skills are perception and willpower. As you can see, they are both my lowest attributes - with a huge 16 in the almost uesless Charisma
My question is this...
Is it worth selling everything i have (probably give me around 10m isk), giving my money to a trusted corp member, create a new character with high perc/willpower and a race that specialises in missles? As i've been only playing for just over a month, i'm willing to ditch the progress on this char so far if it means i end up with a better character in the long run...
Your suggestions please - which race has high perc/will and specialises in missles?

Yep quite possibly :) and its allways fun making a new char ..
as long as you dont mind losing all your Sp. you could allways just train up the caldari ships. but as you said your attributes arent exactly ideal.
So yeah id restart. or if you can afford it try and buy a new charchter of someone else... something with better att's and a few sp
at the end of the day its up to you. But personally yeah id restart.

Edited by: HudsonOfSmeg on 05/04/2005 10:57:17 I wasted alot of time training up pointless skills which i probably won't use, and only in the last couple of weeks i've been doing the learning skills - so i think i could get back to the point i am at now in less than a month with any luck.
By the way, if i delete this character, can i re-use the name?

You can reuse the name after the 10 hour or whatever it is lag to delete the char. That is, if someone else doesn't use it first :)

Ok, i'm going to delete it. So which race should i be that has a high base Perc/Will and is good with missles?

Caldari are the missile ships. But I think that Amarr can probably get the highest perc/will combination (certainly highest will and lowest charisma). Any race can learn to fly any other races ships so picking one race doesn't limit you to their ships only.
Play about with character creation yourself and see what kind of combinations you can come up with yourself. There really is no best race (Caldari ftw!) and no worst race (apart from those evil slaves to pleasure, the Gallente!)

And be aware that you're still going to want a decent Intelligence (and Memory to a lesser extent) for training all the support skills. Yes... even if you want to focus solely on combat...

Restarting is probly a good idea, personally i think it would be very anoing 2 start over again but as long u think u can handle it with out losing the joy of playing u should go for it.
But I think it¦s a mistake 2 think that perception and willpower are the 2 greatest attributes. Willpower aint that good, Lots of skills have willpower as secondary recuirment but almost no one has it as primary and the diffrent is huge.
And perception is good, (that¦s why i have 27,5 perc) espically for i u wanne be able 2 use lots of weapons and a large number of ships, which is important what ever u wanne be miner, agent runner or hardcore PVP.
I go for Jailas point, dont underestimate intelligence. Intelligence have most primary skill of all attributes and i also good way 2 get going faster sens learning for example is requring int. Intelligence is also very important for all types of players. It¦s primary for mining skills and all electronic, navigatin and ect which all are neccisary for all kinds of PVP and PVE.
And well i personnally think char is absolutly worthless (cures me for choosing gallante blood unfair) but well it¦s 1 thing that chac is good for it is when u gain standing towards agents and corps and if u are confident that u wanne be doing agent missions it might be a good idea 2 have a point or 2 in it.
If wanne be devolope faster it¦s a good idea 2 make a plan for the skills in the beginning (I did =D)and first be very specialcied if u dont find 2 boring of course. Once u get above 5m sp or simular and have begin 2 be short on those i just must have skills and begin 2 train those who could be good 2 have it¦s easier 2 be good at many thing at once.
Well u do as u plz 2 Enjoy the game is always the most important

One mistake i mad with my first carickter was I chose a buch of difrent skills. by focasing race and back ground to one set of skills you can start off 4 points in your chosen skill that helps a lot.
