I would probably let out a hearty chuckle, and then invite you to the ransom channel. However if you cried out but your guns and/or drones were still blasting away I'd carry on taking your ship apart.
It would depend on your ship type as well - you can't really get much in the way of a ransom for a T1 frigate so I'd quite possibly be inclined to just get the killmail and then try a ransom on your pod, but if you were in something bigger then I'd see what you had to offer. http://chasingtheblueflash.blogspot.com/ -á - My Pirate Blog |

I'd check intel on systems next door, then give you a few seconds to make your point with no conversational chatter.
If you try to talk BS or negotiate a deal I propose to you I'll destroy you as soon as I can.
It doesn't have to be to 'parley' though... one guy was just typing 'please no' and we started chatting. Saved him some isk, made myself some isk.... I've not made billions on piracy but it's at least 500mill so far in the last few months.
I do honour my ransoms though, both ways.
edit* as above, while you are shooting/pointing me I'd be shooting right back whatever you say. |

Depends on local but you basically would have to make a suitable offer and actually transfer the money quickly enough otherwise I am just going to kill you. GÖÑ Haviing your portrait painted here helps INTAKI Disabled Children GÖÑ |

Im not a pirate so i dont understand the whole point of killing a person...
O.O is another story. But lov sec.... I tough the point always was to make money.
Would be much simpler to tell the person "Eject and you wont be poded"

Taking stuff from other people is a way to make money, although lots of lowsec dwellers will do it just for the explosion (they're pretty I hear).
If I somehow caught you and you yelled "parlay!", then shut off your guns and sent me isk (or did a little dance)... I'd totally let you go. -- Pity me not, but lend thy serious hearing to what I shall unfold. |

We may or may not stop depending on if we have had any kills or not. We almost all ways blow up the ship then ransom the pod for a reasonable 20 million isk. I hope this helps.

Pryor to hanging up the eye patch it would depend on the situation and ship. frigs and t1 cruisers go pop with out a second thought and then a ransom offer for the pod. BC's and t2 cruiser hulls bled into hull with no threats with a system or 2 would be offered a ransom. 30 seconds maximum no BS. Resulting insults and or whining like a Tampax receptacle would have revoked all offers and place you comfortably in the vat. All in good fun |

Personally it would depend on how much ISK you're flying, tech 1 frigs and other less costly ships id blast and ransom your pod tech 2's and so on id happily ransom unless you dont stop shooting
Its a nice mix of greifing and profit for me, besides sometimes the ganked ship has nice cargo

The answer kinda depends.
If the pirates feel secure--if they're sure holding off on killing you right away won't prevent them from killing you later if they decide to and still get away themselves--the ransom-taking sort of pirate will most definitely be interested in negotiations. Of course, any attitude on your part--shooting, attempting to self-destruct, insults, etc.--could negate that. On the other hand, if they fear you might be stalling them for a few seconds so your backup can arrive, they may consider the sure kill a better bet than the chance of a nice ISK payout. This is also the reason many ransom-accepting pirates won't volunteer you the chance to pay ransom in the first place.
One caveat: eagerness to pay ransom tends to inflate the suggested ransom; "Who," the reasoning goes, "would be in such a hurry to pay ransom, if not someone with lots of shiny modules fitted and an expensive clone?"
I myself have typed, "Ransom?" in local when it was clear I was going to lose a ship. (But only because I could trust the opponent attacking me to honor any ransom.)
And, yes, the ransom-and-kill-anyway sort of pirate might also hold off on killing you until you pay a juicy ransom under these circumstances. They're out there. Best not to offer to pay unless you're sure of the sort of pirate you're up against.
