Sorry but been through this too many times and too many times have my hopes being knocked down.
Besides, Eve is a damn good game, the Elite sequel would more likely ape EVE than EVE apes Elite.
Not many people realize how true this statement is today. |

Pledged 20 quid on this myself. Wonder if it'll make the deadline.
On a related tangent, there's a 'sort of' freeware procedural generation thing being developed, though there's no game attached: en.spaceengine.org . It can generate a couple billion galaxies, each containing 100+ billion stars and almost every star having planets, moons and asteroids with surfaces you can approach... The todo list for that thing is pretty ambitious but exploring it as it is is pretty enjoyable aswell. I wonder if Elite can improve on this. |

I am in for -ú80.
I want to see the game made.
EVE is running all star systems at all times, whereas in Elite unused systems are not simulated in any way to be able to cope with the load. Having less systems also means that players are more likely to run into each other - I can guarantee you that if a multipayer game ever simulated billions of star systems, no player would ever meet another. Even if everyone who is currently playing any mmo in the world would join this game they would still have over 5000 star systems all to themselves, on average. |

Read this by Braben.
"What I want is the sort of game that you play with PVP enabled, so players can kill other players, but it happens only very rarely."
Withdrew funding. Think that quote is out of context with the intention of the game. Here's the text from right at the top of the Kickstarter page: "Take a ship and 100 credits to make money legally or illegally - trade, bounty-hunt, pirate, assassinate your way across the galaxy". David Braben is just concerned about excessive griefing. Perhaps. http://thenextweb.com/insider/2012/12/24/elite-dangerous-david-braben-interview/Is risk less pvp fun though? You can just roll back to a "save position" if you loose. Also this http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=3022 . 32 player maximum multiplayer. Not for me.
I think most people backing this weren't planning on multiplayer anyway 0-o |
