By reading the last devblog, it became clear that I'm going to spend the next month of my newly-created character training Destroyers and Battlecruisers to level V, because even though it's not going to be my optimal route, I recognize an opportunity when I see it.
However, I'm not 100% certain of the implications it has. It's clear that by training, say, Battlecruisers at level V, (and the corresponding cruisers) when the patch comes I will get all four Racial Battlecruiser skills to V. However, the devblog also mentions that skill requirements are going to change so that Racial BC will require Racial Cruiser to level IV, and a similar dependency from frigates to destroyers.
Does this mean that, to keep coherency, if I train BC to level V, I will get rewarded with all Racial Cruiser skills at level IV, and therefore all Destroyer and Frigate racial skills to IV too? It sounds too good to be true, but I don't see how else it could be done while respecting the skill requirements.
EDIT: Also, dumb question. Those changes are coming in Retribution, yes? Or only part of them? |

That help?

i m more worried how they are going to implement it , if they just going to introduce the skillsbooks and remove the old bc and dessie skillbook it means that alot of players will suddenly not be able to fly 1/2 of their ships anymore I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... No. You will have to train the cruiser skills separately before the changes to receive the racial BC skills. CCP Ytterbium isn't very clear about how the system works. The way I understand it, if you have BC skill 5 and all racial cruiser skills to level 3, you should get the racial BC skills to level 5 after the changes.

how so? they have stated many, many times that if you could fly it before, you can fly it after. Reading my posts is like panning for gold; most it will be useless, but occasionally you'll find a nugget of gold. |

It seems they want to move away from having Logistics and Heavy Assault as prerequisites for the respective command ships, but does that mean the Racial Cruiser V will also no longer be a requirement? If it's not, then some of us may be able to fly more ships after the change. |

I've heard something about CCP wanting to lower the requirements for tech 2 ships so new players can get into them sooner, so you might be right. |

As i under stande the skill change if you have say cruiser 4 in all 4 races and battlecruiser 5 you will get battlecruiser in all 4 races at 5 same for destoyer if you have frig 4 in all 4 races and destoryers 5 before the change then youll get destoyers 5 in all 4 races so if you train now you get more sp out of later when the change comes.

BC5 is more about Command Ships. I can fly all 8 command ships. It will show as more skills after the patch but the effect will be the same. I suppose for me this is a stealth buff. Anyone who isn't there now will be daunted after the change to catch up to me. R.I.P. Vile Rat |

Not necessarily. If they remove the Logistics/HAC requirement to the fly the command ships, I don't think new players will be any worse off training into any individual racial command ship - and with the proposed multi-race bonuses at reduced percentages, it's really a mild nerf to the existing command ship pilots from my point of view, while making the ships more desireable to newer pilots because they "do more". Unsub or don't.-á I don't care what your reasons are, and neither does anyone else.-á Just click the button and go away - or don't. |

you need frig IV for destroyers, but only cruisers III for battlecruisers. Reading my posts is like panning for gold; most it will be useless, but occasionally you'll find a nugget of gold. |
