I am after some advice.
I am of a mind to go and cause some mischief in a certain area of Null-sec. To do this I need something fast and cloaky I presume. Not necessarily a combat ship, just something good for sneaking around in.
I am also a noob, so don't have a great deal of skillpoints. I believe it's at about 2 million right now. My main is Minmatar.
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations please? |

You want a Covert Ops ship.
If you're Minmatar, that would mean a Cheetah for pure snooping around, or a Hound if you want to have the option of blowing up targets of opportunity.
It's a short train to just sit in the Covops, the main obstacle being Racial Frigate 5 and... Electronics/Cloaking 4 for the cloak? |

Thanks for the advice. It looks as if a stealth bomber might be the ways to go. Just for the added bonus of blowing up any unwary types if the opportunity arises.
Too bad that I'll always be visible in local no matter how sneaky I am. It shouldn't be like that. |

You can go be sneaky in wormholes and not be visilbe in local. (a¦á_a¦â) ~ (my spaceblog) http://getoutnastyface.blogspot.co.uk/~ (a¦á_a¦â) |

Unfortunately what I want to do is located in null-sec. Ideally I would like it so that no-one ever knew I was there. Perhaps I should train an alt for this purpose. |

There are two routes you could go.
The first is the easiest, which is a frigate with a microwarpdrive and cloak. That allows you to perform the Cloak-MWD trick. Google it, there's a ton of explanations and videos of how to do it. It will get you past most gatecamps anywhere. The downside is you still have to decloak to warp around, since regular T1/T2 cloaks do not allow for warping while cloaked.
The second is to train Covert Ops frigates, and fly a Hound or Cheetah. These can warp cloaked, and do not require the Cloak-MWD trick to get around safely. This is a bit more skill intensive, but both the Hound and the Cheetah are useful in the long term as, respectively, heavy DPS and scanning.
You should also read up on how warp bubbles work, particularly the part about how they can draw you in if you warp inline with a bubble. With some care and the right fit, nullsec travel is as safe as that anywhere else. ISD LackOfFaith Ensign Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) Interstellar Services Department |

This is such a damn short sighted statement. Fair enough, it's a huge disadvantage to be visible in local as a solo stealth bomber. And you wouldn't be able to do much damage either.
But what would happen if you were to take local away? And make that 10 stealth bombers? Suddenly you got an invisible, instant locking fleet capable of taking down any solo battleship in the game. Now what if we make it 100 stealth bombers? 200? 500? 1000?
Oh, and what if instead of stealth bombers. We make it a fleet full of covert Tech 3's, Rapiers, Falcons, Pilgrims and Arazus? What then? You're flying around in your solo ratting ship and suddenly 20 tech 3 ships decloak, lock you and instant pop you? With no warning what so ever?
The only reason no local works in wormholes is because you can control your enviroment. Only a limited amount of ships can go through a wormhole before it collapses and getting more people in after the initial batch is through is a challenging endevour. You can also close down the system before you start doing any PVE, and this in combination with a fleet makes WH PVE risky but manageable.
So in short, you, and anyone else who things removing local is such a brilliant idea are ******* retards. |

I used this cloak + microwarp frigate that worked pretty well until I hit one bubble camp too many. In retrospect, I should have put some shield booster/hardener/adaptive invuln on the mid slot and another nano on the low. Probably 2 ASB or 1 ASB + 1 AB would have kept it from popping because I was pretty close from the edge of the bubbles before I got popped and podded. I was doing and using exactly what ISD LackOfFaith was referring to above. |

Thanks, this is very good advice. I might try the frigate with a cloak as this is something I could do right away, and see how I get on. |

The pros: you cannot be seen on the overview, directional scanner or probes, targetted, shot, scrambled, etc. You can sit near a gate or station or belt and watch who is arriving, note their numbers and ship types, without them seeing you. They see you in local but have no idea where you are. Some might realize you're cov ops if they can't see you on d-scan.
Cons: you are still affected by warp disruption bubbles, interdictor bubbles, smart bombs and stealth bomber bombs. You cannot cloak warped (unless it's a covert ops cloak), you cannot shoot people or use MWD or other active mods while cloaked. When you jump through a gate you are visible momentarily. If you come within 2km of any other object including ships, stargates, rats, wrecks, cargo cans, asteroids, then you will be decloaked and people can shoot you.
Cov ops or stealth bomber are the best to use when you've got the skills, but any T1 frig with a cloak is just great as a recon scout.

- If those 20 T3 ships wait on the other side of a gate you're toast anyway, with or without local -> Use a scout. - All those ships have a targeting delay after uncloaking -> Stay aligned.
btw: Being visible in local can be used to disrupt effectiveness of a system quite easily. AFK cloaking would be pointless without local. |

@OP,
Do a quick browse of the forums for someone complaining about AFK cloakers. Run a locator agent on them, fit up your bomber and head out to the resulting location. After trolling around for a few days, demand a ransom to leave in peace. Use the funds for another locator agent, new location, etc. |

If you do go the stealth bomber route, do some research on a proper bombing run. It's an art form, but is a lolcano for your enemies if you screw it up. First come smiles, then lies. Last is gunfire. |
