So yeah, getting pretty sick to death of speaking with these people.
Trying to get a hold of my p60's and all claim/tax dates in the past 3 years.
First person said I would receive the information via post in 10-14 working days.
Its been 3 weeks and nothing, I called back just now to chase it up. She said that she could not access my information because I gave incorrect details, despite it being the same ones from last time.
Not to mention I spent OVER 45 minutes on hold, not including the 10 minutes at the start entering dates and numbers using the keypad. Then damn, that song that plays during hold. Plays 30 seconds of a beethoven (spelling) song then hits out with a "your call is important to us, please hold the line" then the song starts from start, continues to do this.
/rant
Anyone had similar problems? I cant believe there is not physical office here that I can make an appointment for and go speak to someone there and then.

Welcome to the wonderful world of government departments where 90% of the staff couldn't find their own arse with both hands and a map.
I'm still getting letters from HMRC with reference to a job from 6 years ago, I was PAYE, I have payslips to prove it, however my boss at the time didn't bother giving the NI and tax deductions to the appropriate departments, he put them in his own pocket. HMRC and the NI folks have been chasing me for 6 years for payments which were not my responsibility, they've had copies of payslips, a copy of my relevant P45 (including the deductions that were made) and only now after 6 years of communications are they actually chasing the person responsible, and only because I managed to track him down and provide them with an address and the name of the company that he's currently running, all from information available on the web if you know where to look.
TL;DR they're a bunch of incompetents.

I got a string of letters saying I had a negative tax-free allowance, which was followed up with a near instantaneous rebate a couple of weeks after the phone call and a full tax-free allowance. It's the yearly "hai gais" from HMRC

When I was sorting out my Tax bracket and refunds, I found it best to turn up at the local office with a stack of relevant paperwork and wearing a suit. If they think you are one of them, suddenly they work better.
Before then I went there with the payslips for the year plus proof of student status, they took me outside to a rack of telephones and asked me to call their phone line. I swear I was talking to a woman at the end of the ranks of desks, she was talking when the woman at the other end of the phone was talking and going on hold at the same time.... might be a coincidence but left me with a feeling of total bamboozlement.

Wearing a trenchcoat also works wonders, too. GÇ£You go into combat, and itGÇÖs NOT going to be WagnerGǪindustrial techno or really hard drum and bassGÇ¥ Reynir Hardarson, founding member of CCP Games, 2002.

The man wasn't famous for planting beets, but for writing some awesome beats ... so I guess it should be spelled beat-oven.

I wish I could say that you are in the minority but truth be told you are lucky lol
I spent 10 years having to deal with those idiots.
What used to really p*** me off was that 9/10 I actually knew the tax laws better then the people I was having to deal with.

Further more each year they send me a tax form for the year (via snail mail to iceland) which i always put 0 pounds in all th boxes for the year.

Voluntary contributions to National Insurance would count towards your State Pension, and protect certain state benefits and allowances if you return to the UK. A lot of ex-pats make them. |

Yeah...but should you ever (and I mean ever) return to the UK, the second you get work here they will tell you that your NI payments are not enough.
Look at it like this; what if CCP goes broke and there is no work for you in Iceland? I'm guessing one of the places you would move to would be the UK, no?
Even if CCP don't go broke, but an awesome role comes up in Newcastle that's perfect for you - what then?
