I figure if I can warp away in my domi I should always be able to escape, but people are telling me thats not the case.
How much damage can you dish out on a ship before it warps away? Seems like having 9k-10k in shields/amror/hull should hold until you warp.
Educate me please!

Huh?
I realize warping away immediately is the answer, but a lot of people tell me it still wont be fast enough.
I am trying to determine if thats correct.

Unless we know more about your circumstances, that's the best advice that can be given. What are you fighting? How many? Are they other players? If so how skilled are they? What ships do they have? What are your skills at? What mods do you have fitted? The list goes on.

As long as
1) you re not warp scrambled 2) able to align and get in warp before getting killed
you should be ok. best bet is to warp away around 10% cap, because thats when things get critical. In case you get warp scrambled and are unable to kill the scramblers well .... yoiu have a problem. Off course if you warp in and see an omg spawn get out asap.

Depends, when NPCing, warp when your tank or cap is about to fail, or when your position becomes unpractical. Make sure to align towards your warp destination beforehand tho, heavy spawns kill fast.
Against players, things are very very different. Players ships can do more damage each, adn oftenly come in higher numbers. Enough, and they can kill you in a single volley, giving you no time to do much of anything.

Rod is touching on the very subject that I wanted to discuss.
Can a player destroy a domi in a single volley? Before I can warp?
Wouldn't that be like 9k in damage before I warp?
The reason I ask this is because people are telling me that if somebody wants to gank me I have no chance at all - but from my limited knowledge of the numbers I don't see how that is possible. I should always be able to escape, assuming I can't be scrambled.

If the gang that attacks you is big enough you goo pooof before you know it. A Raven can dish out a few k damage a volley so 4-6 ravens will kill a bs in 1 volley depending on resists and skills. Just making an estimate so yes it is possible.

Ok that helps a lot - sounds like one ship can't do it but a gang could - which makes perfect sense

If it's Concord, you have no hope. I got blasted in a cruiser before I could even hit warp to...
Makes doing anything against Concord a bit impractical and you only need to make one mistake and you can say goodbye to your character.

Edited by: Elita on 05/05/2005 19:19:33 Once, on my way to alliance space, I was attacked while warping away from a gate by a Raven and four Gankageddons. The Armageddon I was flying had 4 WCS, so the campers did not scramble me. (I guess they were set up for damage, not scrambling capacity.)
In the time it took me to enter warp, they did a considerable amount of damage. With one large and one med Tech II repper activated, they ate up nearly half my armor in less than ten seconds (after blowing my shields off).
The Ravens aren't the greatest danger. Unless you materialize very close to them, you will be halfway into warp before their torps even hit you. Beware the Gankageddons; they can deliver damage as soon as they lock on you, and keep it up at a high rate of fire.

"Beware the Gankageddons"
I dont even know what Gankageddons are. I am assuming that is an armageddon ship designed for gate ganking?

No, its a plain armageddon, filled with 5 or more dmg mods in the low slots. An all out damage and no/little defence.

She proberly means Armagedons that gank you, means they try to ountnumbre you and make sure they win...
And about NPC's: you should warp away when: A) you're tanks gone I think tank was your best defensive point, that, can be you shield or your armor B) when your tactic or strategy doesnt work.. C) when you are heavily outnumbred
And in the case of Human Players: D) when someone's locking you(isn't always hostile)
actually Human players always use BS ,putting you in a disadvantaged, or they are in larger numbers, so if someone attacks you you'd better warp away...
And Pirates make mostly sure they have a hard to ***** tactic, with cunning and smart skill and module combo's
