FOR IGS DISSEMINATION
Executor Soter of the Villore Accords
On the 29th day of the 11th month of this standard year, Evaulon 7 was attacked for a second time by Serpentis space forces. A poppy variety was extracted from the planet's surface, and the city of Rinails bombarded and destroyed. A quarter of a million helpless citizens on the surface died.
This horrific act ranks amongst the worst atrocities seen during Sansha invasions of the past few years, and far surpasses the civilian casualty count of most battles in the border wars between the Empires.
On behalf of the Villore Accords, I denounce this barbaric act and pledge our full support to the Federal Navy and the other Federal agencies and departments responding to the growing crisis with the Serpentis Corporation.
These heinous acts cannot go unanswered for, and we will ensure that the full price of the crime of Evaulon is paid for, with interest. |

I'm hoping it involves diverting forces from the border war and towards stopping the people actually bombarding Federation cities. |

Because obviously we can trust our borders and our cities to the civilized behavior of the State?

Funny that we wouldn't be the first people to bomb that planet from orbit.
That said, Caldari Prime is a special case. I know that you don't think we'd shell cities in the warzone from orbit in the same way the Serpentis did. |

No, just the first to bomb one of its cities period. What I don't know is what the distinction between bombing a city the way the Caldari have in the past, or "in the same way the Serpentis did" means at the end of the day. Having the civilian population of Placid once more under the Provist heel isn't particularly attractive either.
What Gallente patriots know is that the Caldari will not cease to be a threat.

In addendum to my official statement, I wish to put CONCORD on notice for the catastrophic failurd to uphold the primary objectives of its charter, namely cosmopolitical stability and protecting planetary populations.
With the destruction of Rilnais, along with the Guristas, Cartel, and Covenant raids, we have seen a spiralling security situation with no official CONCORD response.
If this continues, the empires, other capsuleer organnizations, and the GMVA may be forced to take unilateral planetary action to safeguard those in our area of responsibility.
I call on President to petition the CONCORD assembly regarding their consecutive failures to execute their charter in this matter. |

You should already be aware that the release of such information would be a breach of OpSec.

I would also suggest the senate call for an emergency session and start an internal review of Federal Navy operations preceding this attack and future protocols.

Nouvelle Rouvenor was a tragedy, but it was precisely the sort of tragedy that happens when you blockade a planet that you're supposed to be partners with for an extended period in a fit of misguided pique. Nothing that happened in that war paints the Federation in a rosy light, from that illegal blockade to the systematic bombardment of civilians that occured later. Nothing.
As for your Provist crack - I don't even know any! The State is politically diverse and I suspect that if you're encountering a lot of Provists, it's because you seem to be a textbook example of Why We Fight, based on your comments.
Rinai Vero wrote:What Gallente patriots know is that the Caldari will not cease to be a threat.
To the tyranny of the masses? To unchecked Gallente expansionism and aggression? To the rosy image you seem to have of the Federation? Certainly. We'll continue to be a threat until you realise that we're done with having your boot on our neck and we'll fight to ensure it never gets back on there. We'll continue to be a threat until you realise that you have no right to a single world of this State - especially its Homeworld.

Our community of nations which comprises the Gallente Federation can not and should not rely on large interstellar bodies for matters of security. The libertarian ideal means that the Federation's member states, including Rilnais, must pursue freedom and security on its own, and it is the job of FedGov to ensure we have the means available to do this. Counting on FedNav or even CONCORD for local defence is troublesome given the vast size of space. Granting these bodies increased powers in security will come at the cost of freedom.
I say this having watched Rilnais burn from orbit and now actively assisting in rescue & relief. Our job as officers of the Federation is to provide the tools of enablement for our constituent territories to defend themselves independently. We cannot forget the core of the Federation is its member states. Surrendering power to cumbersome interstellar authorities is damaging in the long-run. For this reason, I cannot support petitions to the President for blanket responses to these problems. Solutions must come at the acute level. Libertarianism is, of course, never an excuse to take a complete hands-off approach. |

Actually, I haven't spent much time on this forum talking about my beliefs about the Federation. To be honest my views continue to evolve as time goes on and the political situation between empires continues to fluctuate.
Wars are never rosy for any of the participants. That doesn't take away the necessity for people to defend themselves. So lets return to the original point of this discussion, shall we? GMVA members such as myself see no reason we should redeploy away from defending our borders and denying the Caldari staging systems from which to launch attacks. |

The obvious problems with the Federation as a whole aside, the snakes have gone too far.
I will be tracking the progress of your petition through this forum, Msr. Soter, and should it bear fruit, I will be quite capable of funding independent security forces to assist in any means deemed necessary to bring those who perpetrated this attack to book. Not for the Federation, but for every civilian life lost to the guns of the Serpentis that day.
I assume that you have already set Capsuleer elements supporting said strike to hostile due to their predilection for supporting, with a grin on their collective faces, the destruction of innocent civilians in the name of their perverse occupation? CEO of Nisaba Syndicate

Antimatter cooks it too well. I like pulse beams with a bit of Conflaguration thrown in. Gets it more juicy and tender without burning it. Leaves a nice taste too.

While I am in total agreement with trying to prevent such tragedies, I think this vengeful schoolboy attitude is uncalled for. What are you going to do, bomb planets in Serpentis-dominated regions of space until even more people are dead?
It seems likely that you don't even have a plan for extracting your brand of justice and you merely thought that saying such things might make you look tough and would appear politically correct. We are not Gallente puppets here on the summit brainwashed by shallow media productions. Take your audience into account please when you make such statements in the future.
