Where would one even start if starting "fresh" in this game? Train and run missions until able to equip the t1 frigate fairly well and just ....well, just start trying to shoot people?
How did some of the game's fiercest pirates make their start? I"m curious..... and yes this would be on an alt supported by an industrial main....
Just curious, and yes, I did read the Piracy guide on evelopedia. |

in fw you get war targets pluss you can pirate but you have better chance meeting new m8s in fw than going solo

My first moment that I realised I wanted to be a pirate was having a 1 on 1 with someone in Rens outside station -
After I killed him, i decided to pod him for the lols as he sat there,
I went -3.2 standing, so went to a 0.5 system, and repeated.
When I was in low i just went around looking for fights, lost a ton, and joined militia.

Just a question. A real pirate is below -5. That is what your aiming for right? I'm not a Pirate, I'm a Terrorist.

Easy way: Join a pirate corp and learn from the pros.
Harder way: Learn to properly fit a T1 frig. Get a few friends who can do same. Roam low and null in gangs looking for fights with cruisers and battle cruisers. Fight everybody until you get a feel for which targets are easy and which are hard, and begin to understand relevant game mechanics.
Hardest way: Go it alone. Pick a cheap ship and learn what it can and can't do by trial and error (mostly error). |

Yes, ideally -10 to really feel like a pirate, though it would be fun to join a "mafia" type of corp and extort unsuspecting folks, launder isk, put out "hits", etc...
Also, since I"m able to create a character from scratch, which race has ships and fittings that meld well with pirating? Was thinking of either Caldari or Gallente. |

To have a ship that melds with pirating, you're going to want Winmatar. They have the most versatile ships that can adapt to almost any situation. They have an awesome frigate lineup, and their cruisers are fantastic too. Plus, the Hurricane is arguably the best BC for lowsec hit and run activity, although its PG nerf may cause an issue with arty fits. I'd say go Minmatar and don't look back. You can cross train to Gallente later to gain access to Angel and Serpantis ships. Have fun! Yarrrr |

K, so Minmatar for their adaptability / versatility in ship fitting.
something else that is a bit confusing, is how do pirates make so much isk? By looting / selling loot? I know that player wrecks will have random loot based on fitting, etc... Is isk part of that loot too based on worth of ships/mods/etc.? |

I make good money by scavenging from the wrecks that pirates leave behind. Most of the time, they don't bother salvaging. From what I've seen, they can make quite a good amount of money in a busy low-sec intersection system.
Running it solo pretty much just limits the range of targets you can catch and engage, so joining a gang is very helpful to increase loot potential. I have a lover, her name is EVE. I see her every night and all she asks in return is that I have a pilot's license. |

Pirates actually don't make very much ISK at all. Unless you exclusively gatecamp a high traffic area you usually won't make very much money (excluding of course the occasional lucky loot pinata). |

Generally speaking most pirates I know don't make their money from piracy. It's possible but difficult as ransoms aren't as easy/common as they used to be - for a multitude of reasons. The majority of pirates I know have PvE alts that they use to generate income or they buy and sell plex. Piracy isn't for everyone but IMO it's the most fun you can have in EvE and full of a very rich community (in-game and out-of-game i.e. bloggers).
REPO trains new players to become pirates, so if you're serious about it check out our blog at www.repo-corp.net where you can find links to our forum and recruitment info. There are a number of other great pirate corps out there who take on new players too, you just have to do a little searching.
