Hey Is faction warefare new player friendly? Will I be able to join up and fly around in fleets or groups? Is there a better place? I joined red vs blue but I think that was a little beyond me.
Thanks |

Hmz...RvB isn't really high entry. Just out curiousity, what was beyond you in RvB that you didn't like it?
So you MIGHT have the same problem with FW.
There are corporations who are genuine new player friendly, but there are also people who are a bit more "hardcore" (as in the way that they expect that you know at least the basics of PvP and how fleets work).

Faction Warfare is a game mechanic so you can do PVP. The Faction Warfare system can be joined by whole player corporations, or by individuals. It doesn't really provide guidance or even organization beyond what your corp buddies provide. If you're solo, you're solo, basically out to join the pick-up fleets that may or may not be forming. Also, PVP in EVE is somewhat unrestricted in that advanced players in advanced ships will shoot you dead, and certainly won't stop shooting in order to train you because you're a newbie.
So, if you're looking for guidance, best bet is search the evelopedia for "faction warfare" and for how to search for and join corporations and read up whatever you can, and then try to find an in-game player corporation that's interested in warfare and can recruit you and show you the ropes.

As someone who jumped straight into 0.0 after 1-2 weeks in Eve, I can tell you that the region of space does not affect new player friendliness.
What does are the groups of people you fly with / against, low-skill ISK-making opportunities, and the people you have showing you the ropes. Newbie-friendly corps are present in all regions of space, so what really matters is you finding one you like, and jumping in.

Thanks all for the replies. This is helpful and I looked up a FAQ on Faction Warefare. Seems like it might be a fit. I liked RvB it was just confusing to me and one player I talked to (in Red) suggested that RvB might not be the best place to learn to pvp. He suggested FW.
This is helpful. Looking forward to it. Thanks |

Aah okay. Keep in mind that FW can just be as confusing, they will use the same slang for stuff (fleet comms are kind of universal where ever you go in EVE).
RvB isn't a training facility but it's low entry friendly.
I have an alt with the Blue side (which was only 3 weeks when he joined - but okay I have my knowledge from the main), and what does help is just say you are new and need some guidance / help from people willing to give it to you (also counts for FW or any corp you join, there are usually couple of guys who don't mind showing you the ropes and teaching you the tricks).
Then there are good guides on the internet (though best way to learn is do it) and there is the PvP Basic class from Agony which teaches the basics of PvP in frigates (so not that expensive to fly with). Old look Corporation recruitment thread Corporation Website |
