Hi guys...
First post so be gentle
Just wondering if someone can explain what higher levels of this skill actually help with.
I kinda read the description two ways. Either - it reduces the 'bleed through' from shields to armour or - it reduces the shots actually getting through and 'damaging' the shield i.e. you take less overall damage hitpoints wise
Thanks in advance

What I have seen, is that it affects when damage starts getting through your shield into your armor. Before I had tac shield skill, I started taking armor damage when my shield got down to 25%. Now it's around 8% shield before I take armor damage.

Yeah the skill does absolutely nothing bonuswise, its just required for certain modules. -----------------

the skill does reduce damage getting through to armour but doesn't completely stop it.

Tactical Shield Manipulation does have an effect, but it's pretty poor.
Shields have a uniformity rating, that indicates when they start bleeding damage through to armour. For player ships, this uniformity is 75% - so when you've lost 75% of your shields, some damage bleeds through to armour.
TSM raises your shield uniformity. But really, who cares? If your shield gets to 25%, you're usually in pretty serious trouble anyway (unless you're using a passive shield tank or something), so it doesn't really matter much.

Some shield hardeners requires Level 4 of this skill, so the skills bonus isn't of that much importance in the end.
