Anyone ever get to play this game? and the sequel?
Personally thought it was insanly good, and the voice actors of the 2nd one was awesome with a story to match.
Admiral Petrov his voice sounds very much like the general dude from Independence Day, cant remember his name the short bold guy if anyone can remember? i really think thats the guy that voiced it.
Anyway anyone know if theres guna be a 3rd one out? need to give the shivan's a kick for destroying the Colossus!! -------------------------------------------------------- "I wana get down on my knee's and start pleasin' Jesus, i wana feel his salvation all over my face." - Eric Cartman, South Park |

FS1 & 2 were good
Unfortunately volition went into some trouble after FS2, there was some reshuffling, afaik some of the team went onto make Red Faction (?) and the IP of Descent: Freespace got tangled into a big mess. Basically, no more freespace.
Volition released the source code, and ppl have been playing with it and doing some intereting things with it.
check out the Free Space Source Code Project
Also the FreeSpace Open Source team have (afaik) made rumourings of a FreeSpace mod for another excellent space game, Nexus
Also of interest is the port of FreeSpace (1) to the FS2 engine Here
enjoy. -------------

It's Admiral Petrarch, and the actor is Robert Loggia. And no, there will never be a Freespace 3 for two reasons:
#1 - Volition (the company that made it) is owned by THQ now.
#2 - The rights to publishing the game were sold off by Volition's former publisher and sold to....DEREK SMART, AKA "Satan"
