No longer needed.
Duel MWD's are gone, tracking issues more easily dealt with, insta jump book marks in game, etc.. etc..
MWD should be just like fitting an AFterburner just more base requirements. The cap nerf that was properly given to them over a year ago, should be removed now.

And what would be the point of having afterburners if for only a little more grid you can get something that's 3 times as effective?

Fitting for 1, and as well as sig penality

MWDs are short rangers tools, without the cap penalty, the only reason not to use it as a long ranger dissapears. ( for any other usage for a mwd, the cap penalty is irrelevant ) ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

The sig penulty doesn't matter at all when you're in a battleship.
And funny also: The ultimate short-range race (Gallante) is the one with the worst cap problems traditionally.

if you are short range the sig penalty matters A LOT!!

The signature radius penalty is retarded, and with the introduction of Target Painters is utterly useless now.

no...
the mwd is fine imo ... (nearly overpowered)
the AB imo is not good enough...
instead of 105% boost I would like to see 210% boost for a tech 1 AB mod...

hmm, so cap penalty is not issue. Welcome to megatron's world then. True it does not matter on frigs, but cruisers with mwd get screwed pretty bad.
Also fitting is bad cpuwise. 75 cpu for medslot is bad. (me looks at armageddon and wonders why they don't have cpu problems.) And enough cap for like 2mins ganking.

One of my former corpmates did an experiment by target painting a Brutix using a MWD. It's sig radius was 10km.
.........."That's no moon, it's a ship!"
It would be funny to hear the sig radius of a BS running on MWD painted with multiple tech2 painters.

Gariuys, you and I both know there are other ways to deal with this.
Make cap usage be 750 per cycle, shorten default cycle etc... When you make it reduce the default cap on a ship, all you do is penalize cap needing ships more then non-cap needing ships.
If the desire is to prevent this module from "extended duration usage" I think we can find other means now.
Just my two cents. Flame away.

To be perfectly honest, I think the penulties on MWD should be of a different nature alltogether. Like you can't have targets locked while having MWD active. That way it would remain usefull for closing on an enemy, or running from an enemy, but not for fighting an enemy while going 5 times your normal speed.

*SLAPS* You out of your mind? Combat is slow enough as it is, and boring, and its just no more skill flying anything bigger than an interceptor. You sit there/lock/activate modules. Cruisers used to be useful. NO LONGER. Dual ab/mwd nerf makes me cry to this day.

Why the hell in gods name do we want that? Frigate pilots will whine, ILL cry out of desperation, thats just a ridiculous notion. Why do we want to turn eve combat into a borefest ffs? Its bad enough as it is. ~~ Hyey

you'd be pretty embarrased if you miss a target with that sig size...
though, on a similar note, if theyre using target painters and sig size penalties on ships, how long before we get some "stealth" modules to reduce active sig radius? give some balance options there...
