I began to play EvE in January 2004, and played for around 1 year. Then I left and from time to time I came back for a few weeks. Last time I came back was when Incarna launched: I wanted to see the new look of my character. Now I want to give EvE another try, taking it easy. Problem is I do not remember much... I can hardly fly my ships. I know that last time I played I was starting L3 missions, with a Hurricane, and was learning skills to fly a Tengu (but I have no idea why!!).
So, last night I accepted a L3 security mission: I was supposed to destroy an Ore Refinery. Well... what a failure! There were dozens of enemy ships, I managed to destroy the Communication station only, then I had to run away as fast as I could. Around 1-1.5 mil isks of repairs.
My char has 7.7mil SP, which is not bad I think, so I am not sure what to do: should I start a new one from scratch and learn how to play? Should I continue with this char, but going back to Lvl1-2 missions?
What is the best way to re-start to play? I am aiming to become an explorer (at least I think this was the part of the game that interested me the most), but I don't remember anything about it.
Any suggestion, idea is extremely welcome. Thanks in advance! |

I would suggest that you keep your character. No reason to start a new one. Do all the tutorials, they have been much improved since 2004. Read up on the latest patch notes too. Npc ai has been changed... |

lol that must be funny not to understand a crap of wha you used to understand xD well I suggest you play with your current character. just take time, learn the new ways, start by level 1/2 mission, and when you understand what you want to do, go ahead and do what is fun to you. |

restarting won't do anything so don't do it unless you have other reasons (not liking the name or you being OCD about the difference in char and and SP for instance). What you can do best is take it from the start though. So go do the career tutorials again, start flyign cheapo frigates again and slowly build up your experience. Take baby steps, if you haven't played in years then jumping into a BC or BS right away will probably end in tears. Amat victoria curam. Excellence in everything.

You can do the tutorial agents once for each bloodline, so you could theoretically do them 12 times. Although we'd theoretically ask you "why?" The 10th mission in each arc gives a decent bump in standings with the faction involved.
A good starting place is: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Tutorial_and_Career_Agents_in_Eve |

Thanks! I started to take all the tutorials. I have one more question.... I have a Tengu that I was training for... Well, what is a Tengu for? Is it a good ship for exploration? I am using a Magnate right now for solo exploration, woul an Anathema be better? Should I complete my training for the Tengu? Or maybe change to a different ship? Thanks in advance!

Finish the training for the Tengu as it is considered to be one of the best all-in-one explorer. |

You might want to start a new char just to do the tutorials. Or redo the tutorials on your old char. I did the same thing you did. I started this game a long time ago and then came back but I couldn't remember a lot so I just went and redid the starting tutorial missions and they re-familiarized me with how the game works. |

A few more questions: I see that now there are these Plex that may be used to extend game time for one month, or I could just buy the game time on the eveonline site. What are the differences? Is there any way to buy a "lifetime" subscription? The power of two, for two accounts, is it worth it, or after a few months I will just pay for two normal accounts? Thanks once more in advance. Thanks once more in advance. If you buy a PLEX, you are using in game currency for it.
If you buy the time from the EVE Online site you are using real money.
You can also use ISK for 60 day timecodes in the timecode bazaar. These usually sell for less than two PLEX purchases in game. So if PLEX are selling for an average of 550 million ISK (which they have been recently) then you shouldn't pay more than a billion ISK for a 60 day timecode (preferably you'd buy a timecode at 950 million or even 900).
There is no way to buy a lifetime subscription but there are different subscription payment periods (up to a year) that offer a lower pricepoint for the longer duration periods.
The power of two is a great deal if you are planning on having two accounts. At the end of the power of two promotional period you will be paying for two separate accounts at the regular price.
At the end of the day, how you pay for EVE is up to you. You can use real money earned in real time or you can use game money earned in real time. If you have a lot of extra time to play EVE and make ISK then paying with in-game currency makes sense.
If you don't have a lot of time to play EVE then pay with real money. The choice is your's. Personally, I never advocate paying with ISK if you wind up feeling like you are 'working' for your gametime in the game. EVE is a game. It's meant to be fun and not to feel like work. |

I am not sure I understand... In the Eveonline website I can buy both: 1 Plex for 19.95 eur One month Game Time for 14.95 eur Why there is a difference in price (5 eur) if I can use and/or trade them in the same way? Why would one buy a Plex if it costs 5 eur more and gives the same amount of play-time? Just because it is tradeable in game? But you can buy Game Time ( that is cheaper) and sell it through the forum for almost the same amount of Isk. What am I missing? What makes a Plex worth those 5 eur more? My apologies, I was thinking about buying the PLEX via in the in-game market for the purpose of obtaining game time.
You can buy PLEX from CCP and sell it in the game market to obtain ISK for yourself. You pay the premium (5 eur in this case) to be able to sell the time to another player inside the game for ISK.
There are also timecodes that you can buy with real money and sell for ISK in the timecode bazaar subforum.
But, when you buy time from CCP directly you cannot sell that for ISK. That's game time for yourself.
