the map showing 30mins average ppl in space has done this.. but we all knew it would happen..
EVE has changed to, get as many ppl in your gang as possible and go flying through space ganking as much as u can... every1 ganks... but its just its happening ALOT more often that normal. good fights are rare..
shame, it take away alot of the skill that we used to use.

Edited by: Antoinette Civari on 05/06/2005 11:38:38 These 40 ship frig fleets are way more annoying than battleship ganksquads. What is the point ? If you have so many pilots you should get some of them in bigger ships and form a real fleet.. and i fear that those massive frig fleets will be even more common in the future once instajumps get nerfed/removed.

If it's annoying then that means it is a very good working tactic

Scorps will be pointless because theres no point in jamming a ship that barely scratches you itself. It will all be either super short range (10-20km) or long range (60km) because your not guna be able to fit the best guns + at tank and tracking comps! Megapulse 4tw!
Boring are you nuts? A fleet fight that'll actualy last more than 60 seconds sounds like heaven! Scorps pointless? Taking an enemy ship out of the picture with EW still reduces your enemies overall damage output, regardless of whether people are limited to 1 damage mod or not. Why does having only 1 damage mod and a tank prevent you from fighting the 'best guns'? Anything that stimulates a little creativity in the setting up of ships would be a damn good move in my opinion. At the moment you may as well be buying fully kitted battleships off the rack because more or less everyone uses the same damn setups.
Fighting close range is much more fun than the sniping crap that people do at the moment, get in there, get up close and personal and get your freak on, now that's fun fighting Hehe, it freaks people out if you can get in at close range these days because everyone's used to fighting at long range, I love it
Yeh thinking it through a bit more scorps would own, with the new EW and stuff some scorps can jam 3 BS's on thier own with racical tech II jammers etc. Obviously not EVERYTIME due to the chance thing. So a good set of them would be pretty nice, the problem at the moment is stuff dies so fast you dont really get the chance to jam .
But i dont know, i still think fast paced action with tonnes of explosions is more fun than just shooting each other for ages, after a while all your support is guna be dead with only a few BS's gone down, after that all the bs's are just guna warp out and back in meaning a fleet battle could just go on forever :P, at least now if you warp back in thiers a chance you wont have time to turn back around and warp out again :D. And theres not much else you can put in your low slots other than tank or er, warp cors stabs? On the other hand you could go super close range and fit scamblers on your BS's, now that does sound fun. I suppose if there less chance of you just dieing str8 away before even loading in after jumping in then more people will be willing to do it. So MAYBE nerfing mod stacking will be a good thing, i suppose we will see, its bound to happen i think.
And yes, close range is way more fun, we often go in close range.
Oh and if they nerf insta's that guna suck, setting up leapfrogs every jump is guna give people major headaches.

I like the idea but it will end up with every target warping away because they have enough time to get rid off the tacklers before they die.

Its a great way to kill lone targets. But people have for gotten that anyway you kill a target is fine. Even though blobs dont have intellegents that smaller more mobile force does. I think that a smaller force can kill a larger force no problem if you use better tactics. The act of attrition

To an earlier poster who said the 30 min average pilots in space is causing people to fly around in massive ganking fleets: did you not see everyone doing this before? If anything at least people get the fights now instead of just running away when they see anything that isn't 2 to 1 in their favour.
As for people complaining about frig fleets: they are the obvious counter to BS fleets and seem quite sensible to me. A cruiser fleet would absolutely mash a frig fleet and would be able to catch it but I've only ever seen it tried once (and yes it did work very well).
I myself have been in a number of fair fights in the past couple of months, the majority of which were not pre-arranged. So maybe you just aren't looking in the right place :)

Even when outnumbered, one can use superior tactics to outsmart the enemy and destroy him. Information is key.

Vegeta i totally agree guerilla warfare is the way to fight the blob. Blob has a big disadvantage and thats lack of communication, pilots get stranded swoop in kill them.

I need to go back to curse to go 1v1 some more botox guys, had a 1v1 assault fight with zach that was fun as hell, tried out a new wolf setup and owned his harpy, but had no scrambler so he got out. Local chat after was fun, lots of fitting discussions... botox are some cool guys.

Yep this is the problem with eve atm :S. Its a damn ship, you can replace it, ffs how fun is camping a gate with 10 other ships when you can 1v1 me :(.

what is the big fascination with 1on1? especially 1on1 ceptor fights, they suck. Its over in like 10 seconds, the person that ****s up first dies cos they are made of paper. IMO, fighting ceptor v ceptor has little representation of ur ceptor skillz. A ceptor is meant to tackle. To kill other ceptors u have to use a different setup (f.ex blaster ranis v claw. claw will always win cos its faster. stick rails on ranis and bingo)
Fair fights are nice when you get them, as are 1on1s but i really dont see the fascination with them. I prefer a good hunt. Tracking a player down, chasing him a few systems, double backs, good tactics on both sides and finally the kill. That, imo, is PVP. Not convoing someone and saying meet me here and we will duke it out. Thats arena warfare and not the PVP i feel eve is about.
Eve PVP is about tactics, strategy, superiority etc. Its not about fair fights, its not about 1on1 its about out smarting ur enemy and being proud of being able to.
As for frig fleets, well they are good fun , especially when accompanied by a few HACs or hard hitting cruisers. Small + mobile yet packs a punch. If you want to get a fight out of this kinda squad though, dont bring the BS, cos i know any frig/HAC squad im in is not gonna attack a multiple BS fleet. Bring more cruisers/HACs or whatever and yeah sure, we'll have a pop, but leave the BS at home.

I agree, as long as you are willing to engage without ridiculous odds. Most 'fighters' I see won't even try engaging without a huge upperhand. All well and good to have the advantage and own someone, but many of us don't have 3 hours to play chess with an opponent jockeying for the best fleet/loadout/situation.
I used to fight that way, and in the end it is quite simply....boring. Too much wasted time, and in the end a gank. Sure your K/D stats looks great, but u've spent 3 hours online for the possibility of 2 minutes of adrenaline. Just not my thing.

Not saying that 1v1's are the exclusive way to PvP. I merely exposed this side, and handed out some advice. You'll find that whilst I excel in dogfights, I'm also a very good tackler/scout/bait.... whatever.
By all means, proper PvP in EvE should have tactics, depth, the pleasure of the hunt, tricks and all the tools of the trade, but you will never get there without proper tacklers/scouts. Now tell me, how do you get proper tacklers/scouts that won't faint each time a BS parks near them ?
I'll tell you. They need to develop uber skills at flying that "paper ship". You do that by "dukeing it out" in 1v1s.
So please, don't belittle our role. It is far more important than your "align for gate xx-xxx" and "omg press F1 F2 F3 F4..." role, which is really a nobrainer.
