Ok, same POS. We can shot it with out a problem at 150km. Thus far my experiments have show that it will not target and fire untill you are around 50km, or so. However, if you engage it at distances below 150 (I try'd at 65km)it will fire on you.

the stats on the med and large for range, falloff are the same only the damage output is different. does type of ammo loaded play a part and is so are these calculated already on the stats stated
I'm not sure whether the type of ammo plays a part or not. I think when I checked the gun stats they didn't change to reflect the ammo range characteristics. However, even assuming they're using the shortest range ammo and this has an effect, 150km is within firing range. You should be getting shot at.

If they are indeed large arties and you're not getting fired at at that range, that's yet another wonderful POS bug.

Dunno if this is an eve first... but an ACTIVELY defended POS... not just online but everyones never there.... has just been taken down.
Static Defenses Small Tower Day 1: 2 med artys 1 med ac Day 2: 2 Large artys
Questionable: Not sure if they actually got the webber online at some point.
Active Defenses Xetic defense involving snipers attacking support. Max 5 BSes at 1 point sniping our support.
Attacking Losses Couple Frigs (not sure on exact #) 4-8 cruisers 0 BSes
Defending Losses 1-2 cruisers 3 BSes
So much for active online POSes being invulnerable :) goes to show how creative thinking and teamwork can go a long way. Though a dread would have been nice to speed things up.

Hmm do small towers have a really short lock range then? Or could there have been someway the guns could have been misset by who ever ancored it?

Not the first, but this not count.. taking down a an active pos is no child's play...
FA downed a small active one a month ago, and I heared at least 1 more active small was killed in the past by someone.
Looks like small poss can be killed. I realy wonder what the dreads in sige mode will be capable of against a well deffended large POS.
May I ask what was you fleet that killed that pos. Just rought numbers.
I suspect amar ships with lotsa heatsinks

It was lots of temps with 1400mm. We even refitted some APOCS with 1400mm, they worked really well, there was some talk about some people leaving them on as they hit so hard.
We had upto 20 or so at times but averaged around 10 or so actually firing and some others acting as defence with tracking links, sensor boosters and shield transfers for when they tried to snipe from within the forcefield
It does seem strange that if your within the POS you can still target and shoot out but people cannot target you. I cant see any real logic for this, the POS is used for safety and you let its defences protect you so you should be invulreable inside it but perhaps that means you cannot shoot out aswell just like other stations - any views on this point

You have an "harmonic shield password" that allow you synchronise with pos shield, and then to work inside it. In same way your pos guns dont have to be anchored outside the buble to fire to targets, and cannot been locked.
What seems a little strange to me otherway is that on each pos module you have a jam value, and you could anchor stuffs outside the shield, so something have been thinked about... ;) ---- Sauvez les castors, mangez la foret! |

Its like your standard SciFi, people in shields can target and shoot out but people have to get through their force field first before they can shoot them.

SE took down a L CT. Wasn't well defended though, just 1 medium pulse. Lots of hardeners, then they just tanked it close range with mega pulses. Took AGES to kill.
