I have been playing EVE for a short while now and one fo things I've noticed is the number of new players to EVE. Unfortunately it seems too many of these new players do not stick around as evidenced by the slow growth of the game. It is quite clear from |

Bad Idea....
I have not been playing that long, maybe 7-8 months, and I'm glad not everyone isn't on an even footing.....Admittedly I'm not the worst, but I'm miles off being the best, and I don't care.

I dont understand how giving new players the option of new server where there likely to hang around beyond the 2 weeks of their trial could possibly disadvantage existing players. (except maybe taking away the ganking they love so much). C'mon guys. Were |

Plenty of new players stick around, but not all of the new players you see are actual new players...some are alts...well most.

If you have a server just for newbies;
a) they wont experience 'real' eve b) when they do eventually move over to tq it will be such a culture shock they'd leave anyway.

And what happens down the road when another new batch of players join, give them their own server as well? I mean, you obvisouly would not want them on your server, as you would have an unfair advantage SP wise
Or should we make a new server for ev |

Ah yes what a wonderful dissemination of the previous posts. /sarcasm
IMO the main problem wnew players have is getting to grips with the huge swamp of information available. A Welcome To Eve(mail) recieved from the first tutorial agent on completi |

Teaching new players how to use the map properly would be more beneficial than anything else.

There is a serious problem with Eve with regards to new players and that is the time based leveling system.
I played through BETA and for some months after p2p. In that time I accumulated 3mill skill points.
I came back after 18months or so and found ppl I was playing with had 16mill skill points. I was totally disheartened, how can I compete ? I never logged back in.
I have just returned again, this time with some friends and made a noob char. - It takes about a day to realise that as a noob there is really not much chance of you being able to compete - the game is too mature. I have stopped playing my noob - and gone back to my old main (who by todays standards is still a noob) and am enjoying the game again - this after a 2 year break.
The only way to make it possible for NEW players to the game is to allow them to join with 6 months or so training points free to allocate. Its important to allow this on one character slot only - or else you will end up with overpowered alts.
Remember these ppl still have to earn cash to buy the skills and equipment so it isnt instant Day 1 - but it is massivly accelerated to a point they can at least participate.
Eve always had huge potential - but to move forward it needs new blood - Ive tried to pursuade a lot of friends to try this game but 99% have said teh same thing - the game is too old (and they mean mature as opposed to dated)

New players get so much more then we did when we started.
We(the old players)got 0 isk, very little help from the schools, and no general direction to go. Now a new player can be in a top end frigate before he even ventures out on his own. There is the noob corp channels that have very experienced players still in those corps to help out.
Sure the roids may be little in their home system and no rats to shoot, but then again, most high security belts have been raped. They just have to stick it out, like the game or dont. Its their choice.
But if another server is set up, let it be aroun Earth on the other end of the eve gate. That could be fun.
Free-form Professions, ensure no limetations on professions. Be a trader, fighter, industialist, researcher, hunter,pirate[/i] or mixture of them all.

One where all the valuable real estate has not been doled out already and where it will be possible for newer players to have a more even footing without the risk of being ganked by a l33t player with 70 million skill points. I think if CCP did this they would fill that server with new players pretty quickly.
Such server already exists and it's called Singularity. New players can use it as a sandbox and also help to test new features.
