So there are quite a few planets with temperate atmospheres that can support human habitation. Would it be unrealistic to expect all these temperate planets to have high levels of technology?
I've read empyrean age where an Amarr agricultural world is inhabited by slaves who've had minimal contact with technology. They describe the drone that delivers a Vitoc Cure Canister as a 'Metal Falcon'.
Could it be possible in the EVE lore to have a temperate world untouched by technology where denizens fight amongst themselves with swords and bows or would it be more realistic to draw a minimum line of modern gun warfare across all of New Edens temperate planets.

You only need to look at our own world for an answer really. There are parts of Earth that still use bow and arrow, horse and cart, billows and anvil although its possible to have access to all levels of technology if you have the wealth and the powers that be allow it (well, thats a very simplistic way of looking at it, but it is the easiest way to explain it). So, its very possible to have planets that utilize human labour and still fight with primative weapons, but its likely that someone on that planet has access to laser pistols and VTOL aircraft. They're just not sharing for whatever reason. This is probably the case on empire planets. But its alos possible to have marrooned populations far off in null sec that probably lost all access to technology. Maybe they have only been recently rediscovered by capsuleers. Given the Universe is so big, you will really see a very wide spectrum of techology use.

The EVE universe is gigantic. There are still worlds where they fight with swords and bows and you said. It's described in one of the eve chronicles. There is one that talks about a primitive sani sabik-like culture on a world on the minmatar fringe that have absolutly no advanced technology, they live in stone homes and caves. I could be wrong, but it is probably this one link
Quote:He nodded. "A society of Amarrians. Absolutely backward people, even by their own standards. Nobody's even looked at this planet for eons, let alone helped them out of the stone age. We don't have much information on them, but overhead imagery-", he waved a hand and the planetary image zoomed in, becoming a bird's-eye view of a land mass, "shows they've settled in that exact spot. You see these stone buildings here, here and here; that's all they have. Most of them serve some religious function, although the imagery lacks the detail for us to determine anything more." |

There's also a few worlds in Federal space, such as some in Lirsautton, where there are some tribal civilisations without much in the way of technology.

Some of those mention tribes.
There's other places too, in the Federation. |

dont forget the Minmatar worlds, with the independence there must be groups of minmatar people trying to get on their tribal life again, take a look at the Thukker for example, but on planetary scale. |

I once wrote a story (for myself) about a group of Gallente settlers who were essentially "luddites" with the joke being that their technology was basically equivalent to what ours was in the mid-80s. Community Representative GÇ+ EVE Illuminati GÇ+ Fiction Adept

There would also be the possibility of schizo tech levels; where you would have societies with access to some tech from their relative 'future' in one field, while still being primitive in another/the rest.
This could be because their planet had once been specialized towards producing a certain product, or simply that they rest of their infrastructure had been lost/destroyed in the past. An example of the former would exist due to an abundance of resources which went into making certain high tech products like motorcycles, so you'd end up with a tribal society that had access to radios, or swords-and-bows warfare conducted with motorcycles and other mechanical vehicles instead of horses and cart, because while they have functional industry in that aspect, there has been no development in other fields simply because they were unable to understand/research other technologies that would normally complement the ones that they have.
Examples of these IRL would be like the Indonesian countryside; lots of high tech that I have seen such as cellphones and iPads, while at the same time they don't even have housing with running water; because while they have advanced infrastructure in one aspect, the others are lacking. |

the only comparation i have there is the original Ni'Kunni, they hadnt iron and therefore they couldnt make steel, so their industrial revolution had brass based mechanisms. of course, this was before the Amarr arrival.
i remember too that the Caldari were in their industrial revolution before meeting with the Gallente, but im not sure.
another example are the Yin Mei, which had already achieved control of their own system when the Gallente arrived.
that talking about different levels of technology, but for example the Ealur kept their race in stone age before getting enslaved by the Amarr.
now i dont have more knowledge about other technological ocurrences in New Eden, if someon wants to add more information i would appreciate it.
P.S the Intaki were in a pre-industrial era before meeting with the Gallente too. |
