Create a high slot point defense. This could be the same or use racial differences. Each point defense would have a set chance with of course skill bonus. The base skill could be around 30-40% with adjustments for skills. The PD would then be able try to defend agianst multiple missiles at the same time but could be overloaded by missile volleys. For example is you had a 40% of interception on the first missile you would have a -20% penalty on the next missles etc. You would then put a penalty / bonus based on the speed of the missile. Faster missiles being harder to intercept. Jamming etc would also render the defense either not working or severely degraded. You could even add ecm missles that would make the job harder for the defenses to deal with the threat as well. Now it would make sense to have differences based on size. You could either increase ranges/effectiveness or add multiple PD's with larger modules. For example: Small PD- 1 Medium PD module -2 PD's , Large PD module- 3 PD's. , but that seems a bit to powerful. To help play balance you could have high ammo usage, High CPU usage etc. It would add quite a new feeling or measures/countermeasures to the game.

I'm never sure about point defence systems, imo they would negate missiles too much over guns. I would like to see defenders ungimped, so they pick multiple targets and over a certain range will pick hostile missles aimed at gang member ships too.
And for those gallente folks with no missile hardpoints a defender drone would be nice.
Though I do like your ideas there intelligent and well thought out i personally think there too much anti-missile overkill

Defenders have a purpose after the Missile nerf. They fly at an Alarming rate and Range is pretty damn decent. |

I think an easy change would be to make a Defender Launcher. takes a hi slot, but no missile slots needed, and can only fire defenders. then any ship can fit defenders if they wish, with no need to muck about creating a new type of point defense turret or drone.
or they should just scrap defenders altogether.. Defenders are a holdover from when missiles were supposed to be a powerful and expensive secondary weapon, which they aren't anymore.

I think this is currently in testing, look at the Eve Data Export.

i think we should stick with defenders, ther should be defender launchers though with hi rof but only able to shoot defender missiles.
i think this should be reserved to missile hardpoints only, some ships have no missile hardpoints i think there is a reason why, balancing.... a brutix is very tough but can not fit defenders for example thats something that has to be taken into consideration when you buy it... on the other hand it can pack outstanding firepower...
i dont think this defence points are a priority, revamp of defenders would be easier and as profitable. it is not a bad idea though ...
