Hello.
I don't know if it has already been done before (I didn't find it anywhere), but I'd like (somebody, because I don't have the required skills to do it myself) to do the maths to know exactly how much time you need to kill a passive recharging shield, with a given DPS. It would be really useful to know exactly how much DPS you need to destroy a POS, or a POCO in X minutes, hours...
Thanks to this thread: http://eve-search.com/thread/1365024-0 we already know that instantaneous shield regeneration, at any given shield %age is:
R(Sc) = 1 + (S*k/T)tanh(t*k/T) sech(t*k/T)
with
R(Sc) : Instantaneous regeneration S : Max shield capacity (HP) Sc : Current shield (HP) T : Time for shield to recharge from zero to full (second) t : time (second) k : a constant (no unit)
So the idea would be to "fit" your DPS, or the time you have to destroy the POS, in the equation and get a function like DPSn(Tx) that will give you the DPS you need (DPSn) for the time you have to destroy the POS.
What do you guys think ? |

Don't forget to include resistances. POS's have different resists. |

true but after we got the dps needed, it's easy to add the resists, it's just a multiplier :) |

Instead of worrying yourself with a complex formula, why not go out and just do it yourself? I know from experience that with a gang of 10 tier 3 BCs fitted for DPS we were able to bring down a medium tower in just 15 minutes (into reinforce). I have taken down a few small towers. I have 4 accounts so am limited to 4 ships. Averaging about 1000 DPS per ship(ships ranged from 800-1400 DPS) it takes me about 1 hour(1 hour 15 minutes was the longest) to take out a small POS. That is an ofline POS with no defenses and no reinforcement. An online POS will hit reinforcement before that if it has stront in it. Doubling the ships would do it in less than half the time as the passive regen becomes less and less of an issue that more DPS you bring. The same 4 ships did a medium POS in just under 3 hours. Never tried a large but I would expect 6-8 hours with my set up.
I know this is not what you were asking for, but it might give you a practical base line to compare your calculations too. |

thanks for all the practical stuff, but I know what it takes approximately to take down a pos, but I'm looking for precise numbers here :) |
