tl;dr - Thank you devs!
Ladistier VI - Moon 4 - President Bureau GÇô One day after the momentus victory, Luminaire General X Gallentius laid out the brilliant Gallente militia strategy for winning Factional Warfare.
""ItGÇÖs appropriate that we have saved Ladistier until last since it was the first system taken by the PERVS over four years ago in their conquest of our space. The story of our rise to dominance doesnGÇÖt start with a ragged group of militia pilots bonding together when we were at the bottom. It doesnGÇÖt end with these same militia guiding the rest of the militia to a common goal. No, it begins a long time ago, in a comms channel that has been forgotten by nearly all Gallente militia pilots. From here, we devised a strategy for total domination. From here, we laid out a three step process to win FW.
Step 1: Metagame: We knew the first key to victory was winning the metagame. We started this a long time ago when we somehow managed to get CCP chatgris a programming job. He was able to study the code, find potential exploits and then let the rest of us know. More importantly, he was able to reprogram Caldari rats to attack Damar Rocarion at will.
But this wasnGÇÖt enough. We had to have explicit control over the plexing mechanics. This was done by inserting a French employee to oversee FW mechanics (Yttr) and manipulating the voting public of Eve into voting Hans onto the CSM. With the metagame complete, we turned our attention Caldari politics.
Step 2: Fill Caldari Militia with Spais and Traitors: The center of gravity of an enemy must be destroyed if he is to be defeated. The Caldari center of gravity was not super easy missions and plexes, it was not thousands of afk plexing alts. i Theieir ir ceneter of gravity was militia cohesion. First, CCP chatgris recruited Caldari FC Super Chair into QCATS. Once indoctrinated in the ways of the GÇ£MewGÇ¥, he went back to Caldari militia. But from that point on he was our man and it was his job to destabilize the Caldari State Capturing alliance and their allies. He had some success, and eventually he took his alliance and his friends off to Amarr space so that we could capture all the systems more quickly.
SCGÇÖs contribution, however, was nothing compared to that of Don GÇ£IGÇÖm dead!GÇ¥ Bolsterbomb. Although his bio says GÇ£Traitor to the FederationGÇ¥, The Don has always been our guy. He single handedly lead hundreds of future Caldari war heros astray during his time in the Caldari militia with his deliberate attempts to get his fleets slaughtered. But more importantly, he was able to manipulate the entire Caldari militia into wardecGÇÖing each other. Cohesion destroyed. Bolster also took his remaining corp members to Amarr space. Today he lives on a militia pension of 500 million isk/month for all of his efforts.
Step 3:Grind out the Victory:
After the GÇ£October SurpriseGÇ¥ (not really a surprise to us because iwe told CCP Yttr to do it - yes we were ready and we took full advantage of it) where the plexing mechanics were changed without warning, Gallente were able to hold just about 60 systems. It was now up to us to grind out a victory against the demoralized Caldari corporations and alliances one at a time - knowing full well they would never help each other..
The first step was to clear out Southern Placid. With the EUTZ and USTZ Caldari not communicating, it was really easy for us to dominate the USTZ to take Southern Placid. Damar and his Finnish cohorts moved to Ladistier, and Amarrian Veangance (while courageous), also had to evacuate Ostingele and head back to Amarr space.
This was the plan of action that Gallente Militia war room had decided upon long ago. If there was any sort of game play feature that impeded our progress, we would make sure CCP Yttr, CCP chatgris, and Hans would take care of it. An unstable war front with hundreds of thousands of afk plexing alts clearly favored the Caldari, so we had CCP Yttr get rid of it for the more stable system we have now. Plexes were adjusted so they clearly favor Gallente now (thanks Hans), and whenever we need it, CCP chatgris shows us a new exploit (or create one) to give us a leg up.
And so it was the same for Kinakka (Casoff), Enaluri (Kraken.), then Rakapas (Happy Endings). These three alliances never helped each other defend their systems and soon they all left FW. Then Okkamon (who the hell lives there?). It was in Okkamon that we first noticed the large effect DUST has on the effort to take or hold a system - especially Ikoskio with a 50% bonus to Caldari. So , once we had most things settled, we told CCP to launch DUST and then we sent the DUST bunnies to Ikoskio to knock that percentage down.
From here on out the writing was on the wall. We next took Eha since it was mostly German and lacked any USTZ presence. And finally, we arrive here today, sitting at the PresidentGÇÖs Conference Room here in Ladistier. Mission Accomplished!
I would like to thank all of the devs for making this victory possible, and I would like to announce that the CEO of the FDU has agreed to set up two Caldari Wildlife Preserves. No FDU pilots are allowed to kill Caldari vessels in the Urpiken (upper left) and Ieyema Constellations without a license. This licensee can be purchased from CCP chatgris at the State Protectorate Testing Facilities in Asakai which is the former headquarters for the State Protectorate."" |

Somehow I even believe it partially. Have even already heard parts of that some months ago... Gal T5 short before the stealth patch in inferno was announced was toooooo suspicious :D Fact is: With inferno and the ewar issue CCP wrecked amarr militia. All farmers went to minmatar and amarr couldn-¦t recover. With the stealth patch in inferno changing fw while gals having advantages they wrecked cal militia. Working over 9 months on fw without really fixing anything but making it worse would really deserve a medal...

Well, given CCP's track record of having Devs favouring certain alliances with T2 BPO's and insider knowledge, one wouldn't be surprised if every word in the OP was true.
They've done it before, the Devs responsible didn't get fired nor demoted, so it wouldn't surprise me if the same shenanigans would occur again.

If the caldari could ever work together for even 48 hours without shooting each other, they would have dominated the warzone. The first reaction among the gallente guys I know was "oh ****, we're screwed, we have to lock down our home systems and maybe select 4-5 key systems we may be able to hold".

One important detail omitted from the OP - How did Bolsterbomb get his fleets repeatedly slaughtered without giving away that he was a spy? He talked his pilots into repeatedly attacking arguably the strongest position that Gallente held at that time, Nennamaila with fantasies of taking the system. A brilliant plan indeed. |

You guys have a system for that too chatgris you of all people should remember how it works.
When ever the moons align and the stars shine bright enough, allowing Caldari to form competent fleets, (yea know back before Drakes were nerfed into oblivion) allowing to fighting head to head to the Gal blob, you guys simply dock up and snored us to death.
It was a quite effective tactic I must admit, I mean we could welp 100 fleets and not get as demoralized as having to wait 30, 40mins to 1 hour or more for the Gals to undock if they would at all. Then if they did it always became the argument of who would jump in to who.. or hey we can't fight more than 2 jumps away from Heydieles.
This was the true tactics that killed the Caldari Militia.. we were simply bored to death by stall tactics and hoards of stabbed frigs in plexes giving us loads of boring PVP that ran off most of our competent pilots. |

Show us your empirical data about an imbalance of actual in-game farming alts or stfu. You never had to deal with both Caldari & Amarr farmer alts like we had to deal with both Gal & Min. There was one point it was so bad I couldn't even enter a system with out seeing either a Gal or Min farmer alt in some gun-less abortion of a ship. This is what stopped Caldari from defending systems months ago. |

You guys want to look at the current events as to why things flipped over so badly, but the damage was done months ago, when we were simply bored to tears of chasing gun-less stabbed frigs out over every open plex on the map. Add to that no real fleet fights and people just got bored and stopped logging in or went off to do other things.
I'll ruin the thread and give a serious answer. I can fully imagine that when we had tier 4 or later in the year tier V, there were swarms of farmers in stabbed frigs. You'll have to belive me that we were running in to absolutely the same (including amarr alts) when you guys had high tier.
However, the differences start here. We had the FCs capable to provide our members with non FW related content (be it fighting snuff or going on roadtrips to ruin some nullbears week) . Therfore the impact of not beeing able to find fights in plexes was minimal for us. It's boring in Black Rise ? Let's go on a roadtrip to the outskirts of Geminate, or to Metropolis. And by beeing able to provide our pilots with content,we managed to keep them around.
A second difference is that our groups are much better glued together. Even if we do go trough a dry spell for a month or two, our guys won't leave, they will stick it trough, because they like the group they are flying with.
If your duders abandoned ship because a few months of not finding fights in plexes, maybe you should've recruited more loyal ones. |

No one really fought in the plexes in any sort of large scale fighting prior to just before the station locks outs. Up until then plexing was just for bragging rights & small gang/solo. (small gang usually meaning just 2 or 3 guys vs 2 or 3)
I was talking about my experience every since I've joined Caldari. I'm not talking about plexing or who can farm the most I'm talking about the old school fights we used to have with large gangs facing off that weren't a bunch of frigs and destroyers.
I've seen two maybe three times since I've been on this side of the war that Caldari was capable of running what I considered solid fleets with BC's and up. The biggest problem is not so much getting the guys in those fleets, but more so keeping competent FC's whom can run them.
There is where the Gal snore-fest took it's toll. I can't tell you how many times you guys would be out rolling around in your usual 20+ gang and Caldari would jump into our BC's to come have a fight. I can't think of very many times that this didn't result in us chasing Gals all the way back to Heyidlies where we would always have to wait 20mins to and hour for you guys to "reship" and "undock" which then usually resorted in who jumps into whom arguments.
People that want to PVP simply get bored of that and after some time move on.
As far as non FW content.. I personally realized this with my corp and as result most of the time we took gangs out, we weren't hunting FW targets but either pies or going to null sec. We mostly ran gangs right in the middle of US TZ and there wasn't any way for us as a corp to compete with your numbers, so we almost always headed out to null sec or fought local pies.
If we took fleets out to kill Gals then it was usually just gank fleets to do running gate camps but after awhile that gets pretty boring, when you are trying to get actual fights not just ***** a bunch of KM's.
