I have heard many comments on hear about the difficulty increase in going from lvl 3 to lvl 4 agents, I have just opened up my first level 4 agent and would like to know some ppl's exp on thier first lvl 4 agent. Was it tougher/easier than you thought? Were the rewards really worth all the hype? You know, that sorta thing.

Luck of the draw.
Might get Silence the informant. in which case you'll prolly loose your ship at first jumping due to not ever delt with that before.
might get the lamo Duo of Death version and be done in five minutes saying to yourself ..... Humph
All depends on what you get first.
good luck be with you.

Dont do deadspace missions at start as they are generally harder.

My first lvl4 was Damsel, Warped in got scambled and died. I thought now way can i do these. I went back to lvl3 but lvl4 just nagged at me so i tried again. Did the blockade mission and did ok. Just pick easier missions to get you started then do the deadspace missions later.
I teamed up with a few other guys for GE and Silence missions so I could see if I could solo it. Can do now but have to warp out a few times.

Didn't have too much difficulty with lvl 4 in my Raven, up until I lost my connection and subsequently my Raven. That was the end of lvl 4 for me. This log-off timer has got to change!

What kinda SP are you guys around, I only have about 5 Mil myself, mostly in combat though. I want to try them in my tanked domi. dont know if this is feasable though. BTW my tank consist of 2 1600 rolled plates 3 hardners and 2 T2 Larger repairers. Is it do-able?

mmmmmmm
5 mill SP and in a BS.
might really wanna find someone you can team up with for lvl 4's. Get broke in with help so you know what to expect.
Prolly be quite quite tough for ya.
You got a big tank and your going to need it in a Dom.
High drone skills and good mechanic skills will be a must for ya.
if yes ....... might be alright.
the easier ones prolly fine but the harder ones...... team up.
and the drone missions. Silence first stage, Rogue drones. fit a magnometric ECM. That will ruin all small drones locks. won't affect the parasite and he likes to stay at range(50km) which could pose serious problems for a dom drone attack ship.

well I do have pretty deceint Mech skills, most at 4-5, and I am toying with the idea of sticking 6 T2 med rails on or at least 3-4 t2 Large rails, being I love my domi, my drones skills are pretty good as well. Of course the drones will be a main attack but the hybrids seem to work for me right now as a long distant cover. anything that gets under 35-40 KM the drones will eat pretty fast, hoping some t2 hybrids will still be able to get the job done before the tank breaks.

your tank is weak, replace armor plates with hardeners. they are always better then more armor. you will not be able to run 2 large AR on dominix ether. get 1 with 3-4 hardeners or 1 large tech2 and 1 medium tech2 with 3-4 hardeners.

My first lvl 4 mission was easier than I thought. But then, I started doing lvl 4 missions around 6 months ago (back when hardly anyone solo'ed them and people complained about how hard they were on the forums). I started out by using a heavily tanked Scorpion and I had around 4 mil sp.
The rewards are very good. It's comparable to what you can get if you go npc'ing out in 0.0. My suggestion is to take a disposable ship and scout all the new missions you get before you warp in with your bs. (Be careful about luring ships close to your warp in point though.) Then check the eve-i object explorer and see what type of damage types the ships do and what damage types they are weak too. Fit your ship appropriately and attempt the mission. As soon as you warp in, immediately align for warping out, (ie, get your ship pointed in the direction of a station/planet/stargate and up to full speed).
The Dominix is quite capable of handling lvl 4 missions. I'd drop the two 1600mm plates and fit more hardeners or cap relays. If you don't have a sustainable tank, you will be forced to warp out often. And having to warp out with a Domi can get expensive real quick since losing 12-15 heavy drones adds up.
I've used a Dominix, Megathron, Scorpion, and Raven for lvl 4's and I would say that right now the Dominix and Scorpion have a harder time with many of the missions than the others.
My favorite ship to use right now is the Megathron. I just love doing the lvl 4 Damsel in Distress and wtfpwning Zor before his first missle can hit me. I probably won't be able to do that once the missle changes go through though.

Another neat thing you can do with drones.
fit remote repairers, lock your own drones and you can repair them as a support ship as well.
T2 guns, decent drone skills, good mechanic skills ...... you should be alright on easier ones.
Still might wanna gang up with someone to break into it tho. just for a bit of experiance.
Some of the BS's in lvl 4's really are pretty tough now. And they are gonna be a bit tougher after patch.
Not trying to gloat, 25+ mill SP with torp 5 raven max shield and engineering skills and some of them are flat out tough solo for me. Experiance is what allows me to do it safely.
My advice, take out little ships first. sometimes the cruiser group are doing more damage than the BS(s) and vice versa. I'd say take out whatever you can fastest first to lighten the damage load fastest. Something you'll have to guage for yourself while in progress.
And not all the little ships are fast, there are a few groups where the cruisers and BS's out run the frigs and are your damage dealers and first hand problems.
Closest ones first. In most(not all) it's the little ships
Taking down a BS that tanks well first mean you get smashed by the cruisers. they tend to fit some easy cruisers and some tough cruisers around the tough BS in which case take the easy cruisers first being they go down fast and now your less 5 ships from spawn. Drastically lightens the damage load.
Sometimes the BS is a wus BS using short range guns, throw a disrupter on him and he still stays at preprogrammed gun optimal meaning you will get almost no damage from that BS.
Really liking the disrupters on a NPC BS for that very reason. Allows you to wipe out the cruisers and laugh at the BS.
options and tactics, something you gain with abit of experiance.
good luck to ya.

I hope i dont get too off-topic here, but are you saying Tracking Disruptors will work vs NPC's now? (I havent played in quite sometime and alot of things have changed) ------ "What dosen't kill you will only make you stronger"- Terran proverb "Or it leaves you weaker for the next thing that tries to kill you, and the next thing and the next.."- Me |

yes they do, and very well because the NPC's are not smart enough to change their ammo and or range.
I go up against these Mega Pulse geddons that are programmed to get to a close optimal and orbit.
All BS are set up for a preprogrammed optimal and when they reach that, they orbit. Throw a disrupter on them and now there gun ammo is 50% off range minimum making it next to nothing damage.
It absolutely ruins the BS guns and completely lightens the damage load your taking. The closer they are, the better for the disrupters.
All EW weapons work on NPC's now allowing for many more options of how to disrupt or remove lock or mess with their guns and ranging.
Magnometric ECM's ruin all rogue drones except the parasite.
No lock = no shoot = no damage = easier to tank
you can also use ECM burst to break lock and then use dampners too. again absolutely ruining their range and locking capability.
Lots of options when looking at the EW aspect of it.
Good fun experimenting and trying new things and new setups now.
And it's all leading to using more and more PvP type setups against the NPC's making people more likely to be able to counter the occasional low space mission PK'er.
What happens to the PK'er when he warps into a small group setup this way.
That PK'er just became a dread guarista PK'er.

In a busy system you will lag.

My first lvl 4 mission was Angel Extravaganza... Do I need to say I didn't make it? Lost so much in standing that I had to go back to my lvl 3 agent to be able to use the lvl 4 agent again, hehe.
I noticed one weird thing in that mission though. The first time I came to the first group of ships there was one BS with a 1 mil bounty (Domi), that I didn't succeed to kill. A number of hours later I went back, and the 1 mil BS was gone, but now there were 2 750k BS (Mega)there instead, that weren't there before. Are the missions that dynamic that they actually change a bit like this? __________________________________________________________ Knowledge is when you don't know what you don't know. |
