*cough* Last night I tanked a secret 5/10 complex in my Deimos with ease. I calculate that it would be just as easy in the serpentis 10/10 with my friends there as usual (one with a large remote repairer) due to having 95% resistance to thermal and kinetic when fitted out with only thermal and kinetc hardeners. Don't think think I need to go any further, do I, really?

Oh DEAR, oh dear, you can't fit an overpowered setup that would let you deal more damage than most battleships, whatever will we do? :o. Considering the Thorax can only fit that with light neutrons, you should be glad that you can replace a few of those T2 magnetic stabalisers with T2 reactor control units and still fit 5 medium Ions or possibly Neutrons.

And then deimos will have rails fitted? Now THAT would be the last day of EVE, isnt?
No seriously, say dual 150 II? Anyone? 8km with antimatter. 420 grid for 5 guns... No? How about element of surprise? Enemy will be WTF_STONED for 10 minutes

nahh rails suck... I wouldnt mind trying 5 neutrons (light) with 6 dmg mods.. the rof would be crazy lol. Electrons are decent with tank setup but the damage is disheartening, perhaps if ccp decides to fix their adv. wpn upgrds thing quickly something may change in that regard

With adv weapons upgrades V you can run a full armour tank and 5 Dual 150mm railguns, but I'm not sure about Tech II ones.

Not too sure on that, mate. Never tested it out for DPS, really, I'm the group tank for NPCing so just whatever weapons I can fit is good. I think I get about 60-120 per hit with antimatter and my skills are pretty crappy. Take a crappy cruiser out with one 150mms fitted and fire it at a secure cargo container for a while, then look at the damage log.

Do damage mod X number of guns X total ammo dmg (24 on anti matter) divided by rof, and that's your damage per second vs armor/shields with no resists. I get about 400 dps like that with my blasters, and i still have lots of skills left to max out. I only run a light tank however, 2 damage mods. _______________________________________________________

All my gunnery / ship skills are maxed. Neutrons / ions do good damage but any tanked hac / bc can drop you faster than you can kill it with those guns. Therefore you sacrifice the damage for some form of tank with the electrons, but the deimos has many weaknesses like being webbed and cap drained by a BS that make it risky to engage solo, or even in small groups without a fairly good idea of your enemies capabilities. So while this post is somewhat pointless it does have some logic to it, hehe. 250mm's require more PW than neutrons so you couldnt very well fit them with a tank, however I haven't tried 150mm's and as a result of this will explore their capabilities. What setup do you use that you think doesn't suck? (Not talking about PVE, I really don't care... lol)

we are quite well setting up the diemos wrong, but nonetheless, we havnt found ONE setup that can kill my zealot/sac/prophecy or even retribution.
So exactly what are we missing :(

you two need to stop circle jerking each other long enough for me to get in on the action... i dunno i just remember fighting a dominix and a apoc in my deimos (apoc came in halfway through the fight) i got the dominix but then the nosfers from the apoc and the web and scramble did me in, i put up a good fight tho... I had a good setup for the deimos but i forgot it and qwould need to have the ship in front of me again to test it out.... use an ishtar they are much more fun especially with tech 2 drones out now : D

Vice versa to kill a Deimos.
I've done it, sac vs deimos.... neither could kill each other, too little damage and too much tank :P
Consider, though, that this is a 1v1 situation. I doubt you can tank 2 or more players with any tank.

My guess is OFRogue is a Thorax pilot. Then, when he got into his Deimos, expected it to be even more powerful. Problem is, the Deimos is pretty well balanced versus most other HACs. The Thorax, isn't versus other cruisers.
I've heard Deimos pilots say that 100m for a Deimos isn't worth it when they can do almost as much damage in their T-Rax.

Why dual 150mm II for the win:
- Duals have just 15% less dps then 250mm, but better tracking and huge clip
- Duals have good fitting, which is for tech 2 - 84 grid, 35 cpu
- Duals dps is 50% less then electrons
- Yet duals with antimatter have range of 8km optimal, with 6km base falloff + hac bonus. Which means that with med range ammo you can hit at 20 for decent damage and have full punch in all 10km web range
- Blasters on the other hand are so close range weapon that nominal dps advantage is a mirage, because most of the fight blasters will operate on falloff, or wont be able to hit at all, while at 10km duals are practicaly at full dps which allows deimos to stay at the edge of the web and outgun any close range setup
PS -50% dps even vs electrons, these forum folks gonna eat me alive 110mil ship losing 50% dps

Nobody uses dual 150's in pvp because, as you have said, they don't do any damage. Now, i don't know where you get your data from, but i usually have no trouble brining my blasters into range even if i do get webbed. I don't understand why so many people want to tank their deimoses. It's a damage dealer, a gank ship. If you want to tank, use an ishtar or sac, that's what they are for. _______________________________________________________

In my Deimos, I can fit a setup for tanking all types of damage and tank a player battleship forever. I had a dominix with blasters and a swarm of Heavy drones on me and it wasn't able to break my tank. I imagine if I knew what type of damage I was coming up against, I could tank two battleships, but I sure as hell wouldn't be taking any of them down with my crappy damage.

Or maybe thats just my empty wallet making me justify not flying my deimos.

Yes a rax could probably kill a deimos if set up probably, would just take a while.
And as for you arimas if you think you are so wise how is it that you equip your deimos? And how many gunnery skillpoints do you have? lol.
