Has anyone come up with a working missile defense. Defenders never did work that well and I use to use two medium smart bomb IIs to take out most missiles prior to impact. With the new changes, defenders seem to be even worse off and SBs are useless too, so what works other than just tanking the damage or speed to keep missiles from hitting?
It is beginning to look like the Dev's need to either upgrade defenders or added point defense weapons for high slots that dont require turret mounts.

Fly a small ship. Its the win button vs. caldari ships now, you didn't hear?
Nah. I'm joking. Kinda. Keep your speed up, that'll reduce damage, and the lower your sig, again, the lower your damage. Except vs. rockets. I get about 35 damage per shot on EVERYTHING with those on my crow.
I guess get some Halo Omega implants. I've heard one of them lowers your sig radius ---

Missile defenses do not exist, atm, but they will be added in the next patch, as smart-bomb type modules that only hit missiles. ---------------

I haven't seen that anywhere official, just on the forums. But if what I saw on the forums is even half accurate, its a win button vs. missile users because of the range of the smartbomb.Everyone would start using exclusively guns. Including me, and I love my cerberus. I love my cerberus STILL ---

Care to link me to where you saw this? I've been spending a lot of time on the forums recently and haven't seen that mentioned anywhere.
I think one way to solve the problem would just be to let a launcher with defenders autorepeat even when there aren't any incoming missiles, thus the defender would launch the instant the enemy missile did. However, due to many turret ships not having a launcher hardpoint, some other high slot system sounds like an appropriate addition as well.
Lastly, I sure as hell hope the release of anti-missile systems come with a significant improvement to the Cerberus's rate of fire. Somethings got to be done.

i always liked the idea of a flak turrent that tracks and fire at incoming missles only.....obviously it wouldnt be 100% effective and part of me wonders why there should be a defence as it not like you can defend against other turrents with the exception of moving and keeping your transversal up

I would go hunt for it, but it didn't look like solid information anyways. I'd ignore it at least for now ---

Even on a crow with new skills at 3 I don't get that on an interceptor standing still.
And the Crow has the highest bonuses for rockets while there are quite a few other Caldari ships that use rockets

Edited by: Gore Firell on 15/07/2005 08:14:47 I've been playing for less than one month and so the skill are despirately lacking for myself. Just recently got a destroyer and was cleaning house on lvl 2 kill missions..... until I came up against enemeys with missile. After losing 1 destroyer I got another and tried again. I tried various differnet things and have come to the concluesion that a destroyer has a hard time living for very long agains 3 kreslers (or how ever you spell em) those damm missile boats.
I tried defenders, I tried smart bombs, I tried ECM and various ofther electronic counter measures - I trained in various skill to try other things. Put afterburnes on the damm thing.... working towards Micro warp currently. This was happening before the patch and is happening after the patch too....
If the nerfed missile - i haven't noticed

I think defenders should get some loving. But then again smartbombs do work good too. Missiles do have Hitpoints people.

This happens only because NPC's are cheating. They do full damage with their missiles, seems they have some extra skills at level 5 (the available skills they must have at level 5 too). So against Missile using NPC's it is a hard time atm, especially for new players with low skills
