Ones American and ones English. Artifact or Artefact? Being that most things in Eve are in American, you can expect things to be a little strange sometimes.

As far as I know, Artefact and Artifact are different words. Artefact refers to an error, Artifact to an item. In american english, they mean the same thing, however, and both are valid in either circumstance.

So is this your account of how eve taught you how to spell things right and not with stupid extra letters? ; p

'Could you give me a little more details?' - I mean, call me stupid, does does that ACTUALLY make grammatical sense? should it be a 'few' more details. or 'a little more information'...? cos 'little more details' is WRONG im sure ---------------

I believe you can submit a bug report or something with the spelling error.
Just don't expect someone at CCP to go "OMG Noes! We misspelled something! Fire up the Computorator 9000 and bring me a Quafe Ultra Special Edition!" or anything for a spelling error. ---

Edited by: CaptainSeafort on 18/07/2005 18:18:14 nyphur, an artefact is an error (commonly used in coding) but is also the name for an item. americanisms brought the separation of this, as the more commonly used word was more easily americanised
ps, yes, we want the "u" reinstated in armour, and the "a" back in the middle of archaeology [;)]

No its not. Most european languages borrow various bits from latin (grammar and syntax more then words) but I would hardly conisder them to be rip offs of Latin. Thats like saying that planes are ripping off horse drawn carts because they both have wheels and seats.
English on the other hand lures new languages down dark alleys and mugs them for vocabulary

What do you think about Penalty and Penality? Both words are used in the game, and as I've interpreted the dictionary they are two different words. Penalty is a subject, Penality is more like a verb, "the act of penalty" or something like that.
To be honest, I think British english looks much better in writing than American english. I as a Swede find it easier to pronounce British english than American english as well.

American English is for lazy people.
My favourite American word is "burglarised", I mean what was wrong with burgled?
Was it really necessary to add "aris" to a perfectly good word just so some American could pronounce it!
PS Flame suit is on, do your worst - I'm Scottish anyway so they're all foreign tongues!

Maybe the time has come to separate the two languages English and American and not confuse matters by calling it American English. If it wasn't for modern communications we'd probably not understand a word the other spoke by now
Anyone know the historical reason for why American misses out a lot of the extra letters??

American is to English as Mexican is to Spainsh (does anyone remember SAT's)
As long as were discussing differences, In British English "spelt" is the past participle of spell
In the American dialect "spelt" is a grain
I'll keep an eye out to see if CCP has grained any other words wrong

Well, if you add 'Eris' to anything it becomes much better
Example:
Jacuzzi (ok word) Eris and Jacuzzi (much better)

Except that burgled is easier to pronounce than burglarised.
And it's most definately "armor"
P.S. Yes I am an American.
