Here's what I think.
Faction Warfare needs to matter to everyone in eve. Everyone flys ships. Most people eventually fly T2 and T3 ships. Make Faction warfare effect ship production.
Could be lots of ways to do this, here's one.
New Item:
BPC mineral efficiency booster. used during manufacturing process to increase mineral efficiency of BPC. Item is depleted upon use. 4 specific types of booster, 1 per race, and would only affect BPCs of ship of the same racial type as the booster.
Number of boosters required could vary based on hull design. Expensive ships would require more boosters to achieve same effect. Multiplied by number of runs on the copy, of course. So while a rifter might take a small amount to increase efficiency, a Scimitar, on the other hand would require many.
How to implement?
Must be based on number of contestable systems that are controlled by a faction. Limited availability would create their value. These should only be obtainable by people engaged in faction warfare.
Utilize missions, to allow opposing factions to intercept missions to prevent these from becoming reality. These missions would spawn as a rare mission -- more or less frequently based on the number of systems the faction controls. Perhaps higher-ranked members of FW would have a higher chance of having the mission offered to them.
The missions should spawn only 3 or more jumps away from hi sec systems, and should require certain items to be hauled to a 1.0 system of the specified empire. Upon completion, the BPC ME Boosters would be the reward for the mission.
If they were sufficiently rare, and sufficiently useful in ship production this would create motivation on several levels.
-- control more systems for more common BPC ME booster mission spawns. -- creates a need to escort missions to hi sec for successful completion -- becomes desirable to intercept enemy missions to prevent successful completion. -- non FW entities suddenly have their game experience altered by FW game-play, making it more meaningful.
So, what do you think? I think the idea of cheaper T2 & T3 production would prove very enticing to manufacturers and pilots alike.
Like this idea, or have ideas to improve it, or perhaps a completey different and better idea to cause FW to affect the rest of eve? I'd like to know your thoughts.
